Dandadan chapter 178: What to expect

With Seiko Ayase’s allies Kashimoto and Payase stepping in to defend her, Dandadan chapter 178 will likely focus on showcasing their respective powers. Likewise, fans are desperate for any and all spoilers they can get on chapter 176 before its official release on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in Japan.

Unfortunately, the series’ digital publication nature makes it likely that regular, verifiable spoilers for the upcoming issue will not be made available prior to its release. Moreover, recent anti-manga piracy efforts in Japan throughout the 2024 calendar year have put the viability of spoiler processes in general into doubt.

Thankfully, there is one particular direction which Dandadan chapter 176 seems likely to go based on recent events, even without the help of verifiable spoilers. The issue’s main priority will likely be to establish Kashimoto and Payase as having similar powers to Momo Ayase and Ken “Okarun” Takakura, respectively, setting them up as the pair’s mentors.

Dandadan chapter 178 may reveal a path forward for Okarun without Turbo Granny, how Momo can use true powers

Dandadan chapter 178 will likely open up with Seiko trying to tell Payase and Kashimoto that they’re out of their league when it comes to the iron bull that wiped the floor with her. This should also see her reveal that she noticed the knife it tried pulling on her, suspecting that her admitting defeat was key to whatever its plan was. After her allies argue back with her, she should reveal this to them as a means of implicitly accepting their help.

At the same time, the bull should be sending the jiangshi after Kashimoto and Payase while it recovers. Kashimoto will likely strike first here, with his powers presumably being more suited for crowd control if they’re meant to be analogous to Momo’s. Likewise, this should reveal the bird-like creature with him as a manifestation of his aura which he controls and shapes via his psychic powers.

Dandadan chapter 178 should see Kashimoto quickly deal with the jiangshi, using power which impresses even Seiko. A focus on her reaction also sets up an easy means of establishing his powers as similar to Momo’s via Seiko recognizing this herself. The iron bull should then reappear at this point, ordering Kashimoto and Payase to get out of its way. The latter should meet its charge equally, resulting in a major clash that results in a standstill.

Payase will likely then use his abilities to up his speed, giving his blows more weight and making them more effective against the bull’s iron-like body in turn. Again, Seiko should be given a brief focus here to liken Payase’s abilities to that of Okarun’s when he was in his Turbo Granny form. Payase should also reveal the yokai or cursed object which grants him these powers here, in turn setting up how Okarun could harness that same potential.

At this point, Kashimoto should join back in the fight with Payase, setting the pair up to defeat the iron bull in the issue’s final moments. If Dandadan chapter 178 doesn’t end on this scene specifically, then it’ll likely be followed with Seiko approaching the pair and asking for a favor. However, fans likely won’t get to hear what this is, with focus then shifting to Seiko and the two of them at Daikokuten’s shrine to look for the uchide-no-kozuchi.
