Dandadan episode 11 preview teases Jiji's integration and a new paranormal problem

Following the official introduction of the central character Jin “Jiji” Enjoji in the previous installment, fans are more anxious than ever for Dandadan episode 11’s official release later this week. While a lack of spoilers for the upcoming episode is all but a foregone conclusion, fans do at least have the episode 11 preview to pick apart for clues on what to expect.

One of the most obvious plot points of Dandadan episode 11 in the preview is the integration of Jiji into the series’ central group of Momo Ayase, Ken “Okarun” Takakura, and Aira Shiratori. However, the series doesn’t seem set to put its paranormal activity on hold just yet, with the final scenes of the preview teasing another in-school event for the group to deal with.

The Dandadan episode 11 preview first opens up with a shot of Momo screaming, quickly transitioning into a shot of Jiji at what is presumably Momo and Okarun’s school. This shifts into a shot of Aira and Momo seemingly arguing, as well as Okarun appearing depressed with his head on his desk. Dialogue plays out over these scenes, seeing Okarun question his feelings and the others discuss and call the Mantis Shrimp alien a Dover Demon.

A close-up of Okarun’s face with his head on his desk appears, seeing him sweating while blushing. He’s most likely thinking about his feelings for Momo, her old feelings for Jiji, and how Jiji’s introduction into their group may affect his relationship with Momo. Okarun adds that someone is likely just shaken up because of the Cattle Mutilation, or the dairy cow being “abducted” by the Dover Demon in episode 10.

The preview reveals its title of “First Love,” then shifts into a shot of someone (likely Momo) holding a model heart with detachable pieces. Momo is then seen turning around and reacting to something, with what seems to be Jiji sitting on the ground in front of her based on the red hair. What seems to be a scientific, anatomically accurate model of a human is then seen screaming and running, which is likely where the heart in the previous scene came from.

Generally, there are two major points to take from the preview’s scenes and what they set up for Dandadan episode 11. Firstly, the next paranormal encounter for Momo, Okarun, and co seems to revolve around a yokai inhabiting a scientific, anatomically accurate model of a human. This is evidenced since blue sky can be seen in the scene where it appears to be running, meaning it’s not in Empty Space and thus likely isn’t an alien.

The second major point is that Jiji’s introduction and integration into Momo, Okarun, and Aira’s group are stressing out all three in one way or another. However, Okarun seems to be taking the worst of it, likely due to his recently awakened feelings for Momo. This will likely be a major plot point in the season’s final episodes, especially as it relates to his and Jiji’s interactions.

However, all of the above is purely speculative based on the scenes that appear in the preview for episode 11 given at the end of episode 10. That being said, this is more likely than not where the series will head in episode 11’s official release. Fans can find out for sure on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
