Danmachi volume 20 spoilers indicate the series' final arc will revolve around Ais and the One-Eyed Black Dragon

With Danmachi volume 20 spoilers leaked online, the series' status has finally been revealed. According to spoilers, Fujino Omori in Volume 20's afterword mentioned that the next volume will mark the beginning of the series' final arc. In other words, Volume 21 will be the first installment of the finale.

However, Omori didn't mention how long the final arc will be. That said, Danmachi volume 20 spoilers have indicated the core narrative for the endgame. As fans know, the series has hinted from time to time that Bell Cranel's heroic journey will reach its culminating point when he faces the One-Eyed Black Dragon, the greatest threat in Orario's history.

Although Albert (Ais Wallenstein's father), deemed Orario's strongest adventurer, sacrificed his life to battle the One-Eyed Black Dragon, he could only injure its one eye and chase it away. Thus, the series prepared Bell Cranel as the next "heroic entity," who would bring glory to Orario and finish the final mission, i.e., the extermination of the One-Eyed Black Dragon, from the Great Three Quests.

Interestingly, Danmachi volume 20 spoilers have dropped new information about the One-Eyed Black Dragon, and how it will truly be the ultimate nemesis for Bell and his friends. According to the spoilers, the One-Eyed Black Dragon can summon and command other Dragon-type monsters in the Dungeon.

He commanded them to gather around it when it fought against Albert Wallenstein 1000 years ago. Adding to this, the spoilers revealed that Ryu and Bell traveled to the "Dragon's Valley," a region cut off from the outside world, and witnessed a Seal made of Wind.

The Wind Seal trapped the One-Eyed Black Dragon and its kins to delay the clock of the Apocalypse. According to the Danmachi volume 20 spoilers, a "Great Spirit" birthed a storm, eventually sacrificing their life to create the Wind Seal during Albert's battle against the One-Eyed Black Dragon.

Interestingly, the Dragon wanted to heal one of its eyes. From the spoilers, it's evident that the Seal will eventually be undone. That's when Orario will witness an apocalyptic event, with high-level dragons wreaking havoc under the command of the One-Eyed Black Dragon.

Undoubtedly, the existence of the One-Eyed Black Dragon marks a significant narrative for the series' final arc. Besides, Omori has yet to resolve Ais Wallenstein's past and origin. There's a major question that needs to be answered: Why Ais is only 16 years old when his father fought the Dragon 1000 years ago?

Many theories circulating in the fandom suggest the Sword Princess was time-traveled to the future. However, Omori has yet to provide a concrete answer to that. At the same time, Fujino Omori has occasionally mentioned in his tweets and through other media that Bell Cranel's endgame love interest will be Ais Wallenstein.

However, the author has yet to write an Arc centered on Ais Wallenstein (not counting the Sword Oratoria). Thus, there's a possibility that the final arc will merge the Ais arc and the One-Eyed Black Dragon arc. Perhaps, the explanation of the Dungeon will be the key narrative in Ais Arc.

Nevertheless, with the series set to enter its final arc (according to Danmachi volume 20 spoilers, it remains to be seen how many volumes Fujino Omori will take before wrapping up the series. If the author plans on merging Ais Arc and the One-Eyed Black Dragon Arc, it may take five more volumes before the series actually ends.

That said, Omori hasn't confirmed the number of volumes the final arc will have. Therefore, fans will have to wait for further updates from the author.

Thus, Omori has already begun preparing Bell for his light novel's final arc. Since the series has many unanswered questions, it remains to be seen how Fujino Omori knits the loose ends and delights fans with a satisfactory narrative.
