Dark Gathering manga announces 4-month hiatus to prepare for a new arc
On December 4, 2024, Jump SQ magazine announced the 4-month hiatus of the popular Dark Gathering manga for the author's research regarding the upcoming arc. The manga is set to go on hiatus from January 4, 2025, and will return on April 4, 2025.
Dark Gathering manga is a supernatural manga series written and illustrated by Kenichi Kondou. The manga series is published by Jump Square magazine in Japanese and Viz Media in English. As of this article's publication, the manga has 16 (Japanese) and 10 (English) volumes in publication.
The manga follows the story of a college student with mysterious psychic abilities. He teams up with a strange little girl who is looking for her dead mother's lost soul.
Dark Gathering manga set to return from hiatus on April 4, 2025
As reported by Jump Square magazine, Dark Gathering manga is set to go on hiatus from January 4, 2024, to April 4, 2025, for four months. The reason for the hiatus is to give the author enough time to gather research material for the series' upcoming arc. The previous hiatus of the manga, for schedule restructuring, was in December 2023.
Dark Gathering manga is written and illustrated by Kenichi Kondou, who has worked as the assistant of Katsura Hoshino (D-Gray Man). The manga series started its serialization on March 4, 2019, and is currently ongoing. The manga series also received an anime adaptation in Summer 2023, which was animated by Studio OLM (Summertime Rendering).
The anime series featured industry professionals from the voice casting to the staff members. The main voice casting included Yayoi Houzuki voiced by Yuu Sasahara (Emilico from Shadow House), Eiko Houzuki by Kana Hanezawa (Mitsuri from Demon Slayer), and Keitarou Gentouga voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki (Suou Hayato from Wind Breaker).
The staff members featured Cong Cao (producer of Cells at Work) as one of the producers, Hiroshi Ikehata (episode director of Fullmetal Alchemist) as the director, and Yuuko Innoue (Key animator of the anime film Fireworks) as one of the character designers.
Dark Gathering manga synopsis
The manga is a horror-supernatural series featuring the male protagonist Keitarou Gentouga who is tired of getting stalked by ghosts wherever he goes. Unfortunately, one experience made one of his hands cursed, due to which he developed a phobia for ghosts.
Fortunately, he starts a new life as a tutor on the recommendation of his childhood friend Eiko Houzuki. The protagonist's student was Eiko's cousin, who could see ghosts and had been searching for the one who kidnapped her mother's soul after she died. With two opposites now bundled together, what does the protagonist's future hold?
