Demon Lord 2099 episode 8 recap
The episode begins with a mysterious girl recalling a foreboding memory, where she can only apologize to someone. She listlessly stares out of her school's window, while others chat around her. Suddenly, the Demon Lord Veltol enters the classroom and introduces himself as a new transfer student.
Following that, the episode reveals the narrative leading up to the opening scene. Demon Lord Veltol streams a video of him playing a video game for 72 hours. Machina congratulates him, as he successfully beats the game. The duo then discuss the events at the Immortal Furnace.
Veltol wants to find the other remaining Dark Peers, who are still probably alive. The Demon Lord reveals they can be found through the Dark Peer Record book, which records their whereabouts and identity. Machina says it has been lost since Veltol's loss at the Great War.
Still, Veltol wants to look for it. Just then, Takahashi arrives at Veltol and Machina's residence. She learns about their plan and wants to be involved. Takahashi uses her hacking skills to try to locate the record book's whereabouts. She finds out that Akihabara's Lu Xel Academy, known as one of the oldest magic schools in Japan, has a 500-year-old treasure beneath the facility.
Since the information matches Veltol's timeframe, she feels the item must be the gadget they are looking for. With her unique hacking skills, Takahashi sets them up as transfer school students and enrolls in Lu Xel. She fabricates the documents and meets the chairwoman, Tratte Gotel, who lets them in.
Tratte asks Veltol and others about their goals. Without hiding anything, Veltol directly tells her about the treasure he's looking for. Tratte is delighted to help because she wants to know about the treasure herself. However, she reveals it can only be opened by three keys, each of them being under the possession of three clans.
Tratte Gotel has one of the keys (a sword), while the Crown (a key) is with another clan. However, she mentions the third key, which is an orb, has been missing. Nevertheless, Veltol seeks to find it. The narrative then catches up with the opening scene, showing Veltol, Machina, and Takahashi introducing themselves in their characteristic manner.
The episode ends with Gram the Hero arriving at the Akihabara in search of someone called Meldia, who has been around for 500 years under a different name and guise.
