Demon Slayer labeled "a blight upon the land" after rumor calls it source of Genshin Impact anime's delays

Demon Slayer has been rumored to be a stumbling block for the upcoming Genshin Impact anime because they share the same studio, Ufotable. Now that DS is entering its final arc, Infinity Castle, Ufotable has allegedly decided to prioritize adapting this storyline and leave the other project on the back burner for now.

Naturally, this frustrated many who wanted to see a Genshin Impact anime, especially considering the quality of production that Ufotable has shown throughout the years. However, it is also understandable that the studio would want to prioritize a significant money-maker franchise, although that didn't stop the fandom from having strong reactions on the matter.

The Genshin Impact anime has reportedly been delayed because of Demon Slayer, and fans are not happy

It was recently reported that Ufotable would delay the production of the Genshin Impact anime since the company wants to focus more on Demon Slayer in the short term. Author Koyoharu Gotouge's manga is reaching the final arc in this anime, Infinity Castle, which is why the studio wants to work hard on that project since people all over the world are waiting for it.

This frustrated many fans of the Genshin Impact video game franchise because they had been waiting for an anime adaptation and failed to get one. In 2022, it was announced that Ufotable would produce the anime adaptation of the video game. However, fans haven't been given a lot of updates regarding it, which has frustrated the community.

Moreover, there is also a degree of annoyance at another series getting preferential treatment, although this statement is a lot more reactionary and a bit less understandable. Gotouge's anime, telling the story of Tanjiro Kamado and his quest to kill the leader and creator of demons in Japan, Muzan Kibutsuji, has been a worldwide success and one of the most popular franchises in recent years. Hence, the preference is more than logical.

Reactions online

While the wait has been annoying for most of the community, the Genshin Impact anime is likely to happen and receive great treatment from Ufotable because of its lasting popularity. The series has produced over four billion dollars in revenue, its lore and world are great sources for an anime, and its reach across mainstream media is more than notorious.

On the other hand, Demon Slayer is a mainstream anime, and the Infinity Castle arc is significant from a business perspective. This arc has some of the most iconic moments in the series, such as Tanjiro Kamado and Giyuu Tomioka against Akaza or the Hashira against Kokushibo, so it makes sense that the studio is making this production a priority.

"We’ve been waiting for four years already with almost zero news, the fact that this project still even exists is more than enough news to keep us happy for another couple years," one said.
"Yeah, I expected that. Ufotable is known for not doing a lot of projects simultaneously. So we can expect a 2026+ release date," another person said.
"my children gonna watch this anime by the time it comes out," someone else said.

Whether it's Demon Slayer or the Genshin Impact anime, Ufotable is known for taking its time with productions and not taking a lot of projects at the same time, which makes this process very easy to see coming.
