Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 - Natsu's group captured by Selene's forces as the Moonlight Divinities debut

Following the previous episode’s events, fans were expecting Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 to see several fights begin which would carry viewers into the final episodes. Officially released on Sunday, December 1, 2024, the episode did see these fights begin, but not last nearly as long as fans thought they would.

Instead, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 saw these fights quickly give way to Natsu and co being captured and later forced to play a cruel game that Selene had set up for them. This was done with the help of the Moonlight Divinities— Selene’s closest allies— who proved themselves incredibly powerful by the installment’s end.

Brief episode recap

Fairy: Tail 100 Years Quest episode 21 began with Wendy Marvell, Carla, and Erza Scarlet struggling to deal damage to the magic beings attacking them. Irene Belserion then appeared and explained a way to use Spiria to enchant her magic and Spirit Arts, to mount an effective assault.

Wendy then used the power to enhance Erza, allowing her to defeat the magic beings. Their cast was revealed to be the green-haired woman from the end of the previous episode.

This woman approached the pair, introducing herself as Yoko of the Demons’ Parade, one of Selene’s Moonlight Divinities. As she prepared to attack them, the focus shifted to Natsu Dragneel, Happy, and Gray Fullbuster, who were struggling to get through a blizzard.

They then ran into another of the Moonlight Divinities— Hakune of the Snow, Moon, and Flowers. It was clear that she was the cause of this blizzard.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 then shifted focus to Lucy Heartfilia and Taurus, who were approached by Mimi the Immovable of the Moonlight Divinities. Taurus was no match for her, forcing Lucy to enter her Star Dress: Taurus Form and help.

However, this made no difference, with Taurus disappearing after being attacked shortly thereafter. Natsu and Gray were then attacked by Hakune with snow-dolls of women they had affection for.

However, Hakune didn’t account for the pair’s mentalities and personalities, proving the attack ineffective. She then transformed herself into a new form, a green aura glowing around her.

Yoko, meanwhile, summoned several yokai to attack Erza and Wendy. one after the other. She knocked them unconscious, allowing the yokai to eat her, as the focus shifted to Faris and Touka who were lamenting being separated from everyone else.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 saw Faris suggesting going to Whiteout Temple to get help from the Chief of the White Shrine Maidens. Meanwhile, Mimi was overpowering and dominating Lucy, who could only evade. She tried attacking in her Star Dress: Aquarius Form, but this too proved ineffective. Mimi countered with an Immovable Palm, which sent Lucy flying and clearly damaged her.

Lucy summoned Aries to break her fall, before ordering Aries to attack alongside her. She then summoned Scorpio to attack as well, but Mimi countered both with an Immovable Hurricane, also sending Lucy flying.

Lucy intercepted Mimi’s follow-up attack by summoning Capricorn, who briefly matched Mimi’s power before being defeated. Mimi then commented on it being Lucy’s fault, as she can’t draw out the full potential of her Celestial Spirits.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 saw Capricorn say he was happy to serve Lucy no matter what, before being defeated. Lucy then asked Mimi to elaborate, who explained that Yoko’s power functions in a similar way. Mimi then attacked Lucy, telling her to train if she wanted to make herself stronger. Lucy responded that she thought she was doing all she could, before crying over her weakness.

Focus then shifted back to Hakune, whose power was strong enough to freeze not just Happy and Natsu, but also Gray. She explained that her Spirit Arts can freeze even invisible powers like magical energy, spells, and Spirit Arts.

Selene lamented that Natsu and his team seemed to be falling so easily to her Moonlight Divinities. She likewise ordered her subordinates not to kill anyone, revealing that she had a cruel plan in mind.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 then saw Selene meet with Natsu and Gray, explaining they were on Blackmoon Mountain. She then explained that she’s not interested in conquering the world or eating humans, and just wants to have fun.

However, she added that she doesn’t care about the consequences of her entertainment, even if they destroy worlds. She then started a banquet around the pair, which saw the Moonlight Divinities in attendance.

She explained that they were the entertainment for the woman as they drank, sang, and danced during the hours of the banquet. However, she eventually separated the pair, sending them into the mountain’s lowest level.

She added that strong monsters reside here, challenging them to fight and climb their way back up for others’ and her entertainment. However, Natsu eventually ran into Lucy, who had become a gorgon-like yokai according to Selene.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 saw Natsu fight Lucy after being left with no choice, while Gray ran into Wendy, who had become a cat-like yokai. Happy and Carla had also been turned into massive, leopard-like yokai, with all three attacking Gray.

Natsu was then shown to be struggling against Lucy, both for it being her and her power increasing. The episode ended with Aquarius suddenly appearing and saying she knows how to deal with Lucy.

In summation

Overall, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 21 seems to primarily serve as setup for Natsu and co’s reunion and subsequent fight with Selene in the final episodes of the season.

The return of Aquarius and her promises of being able to handle Lucy further suggest this, as does the timing of the Moonlight Divinities’ introductions. While episode 21 wasn’t as action-packed as fans may have liked, the final few releases should make up for this deficit.
