Jujutsu Kaisen gave Megumi an ending he needed, and it has to do with the Zen'in clan

The Zen'in clan has been at the forefront of the events within Jujutsu Kaisen even before the main storyline began. The reputation of the Zen'in clan has been rather shaky due to their practices and their overall attitude towards the outliers of their clan. This eventually resulted in Maki massacring the entire upper management of the clan including their entire military force.

The Zen'in clan lost their influence towards the end of the series. Given that the Zenin clan held a huge amount of resources, Megumi becoming the new clan head might just make him the key figure behind changing every bad thing that the previous Zen'in clan stood for.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Megumi is the much-needed change that the Zen'in clan needed

The Jujutsu society has many problems, mainly stemming from its archaic management. Despite the Zenin clan being mostly hated due to its inherent nature, it still held considerable resources along with an actual trove of cursed tools. The clan's ideals, which treasured inherent cursed techniques while also treating non-sorcerers like third-class citizens, were reinforced by their militaristic might.

These ideals were further strengthened by the indoctrination that newborn clan members were subjected to, who were functionally orphaned due to the upper management being deceased. The current Zen'in clan consists of non-combatants, infants, and retired personnel. They are virtually powerless against the Kamo and Gojo clans, both of whom would like to acquire their resources.

Megumi Fushiguro, being the current head of the Zen'in clan, is in a special position to defend it. This is especially true given Megumi's allies, such as Kusakabe, the head of the New Shadow Style, who rivals the three great clans. Along with Kusakabe, all of Gojo's students, who are currently some of the strongest entities within the verse, also stand as Megumi's allies.

All of this is supplemented by Gakuganji, who currently leads the Jujutsu headquarters and is somewhat indebted to Gojo. He would ensure that chaos does not rain down on Megumi and his Zen'in clan. Both Maki and Megumi stand as the leaders of the Zen'in clan, putting them in a position comparable to Satoru Gojo.

The once-orphaned and rather vulnerable Megumi was fostered by Satoru Gojo, the very same person who orphaned him. Similarly, the current vulnerable Zenin clan will need to be fostered by Megumi, who will take up Gojo's role.

Although the entire story of Jujutsu Kaisen operates on a very grand scale, with the philosophy of being the strongest playing a huge part in the conflicts, Gojo's wish for a better future is the main theme lingering throughout the plot.

Given the vision of a better future that Gojo has ingrained into his students, Megumi will now be able to alter the malicious teachings of the Zenin clan. He will also nurture the next generation of the Zenin clan, bringing Megumi's story full circle. This will mature his character while simultaneously progressing Gojo's vision.

Final thoughts

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended with a total of 272 chapters without the confirmation or tease of part 2. The anime is currently ongoing and Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 is expected to be released sometime in 2025. Given that the Culling Games will be the highlight event of season 3, the Zen'in clan massacre will be adapted earlier in season 3's runtime.
