Kaiju No. 8 chapter 118 began with the oni-mask warrior continuing to explain how the Flying Larva came to be. He called it “the fruit of [their] grudge” and a formless monster, removing his mask as he did so. This revealed that he looked exactly like Kafka Hibino, suggesting him to be Kafka’s ancestor. This is suggested implicitly via the fact that Kafka confirmed Soshiro Hoshina’s ancestor as having been present for the ancient battle against Meireki.

The oni–mask warrior then explained that Kafka can’t win against the Meireki Era Mega Monster without deepening his connection to the Flying Larva. The oni-mask warrior offered Kafka his heart, explaining he can either reclaim it as is and return to life as a human, or convert it into a new core to allow him to return as No. 8. The oni-mask warrior added that if he chooses the latter, he can never return to being human.

Shots of Reno Ichikawa, Kikoru Shinomiya, and Soshiro Hoshina appeared as the oni-mask warrior said this, as did an image of a young Kafka. The oni–mask warrior apologized for forcing such a decision on him, but Kafka simply said they’re the same in response. He added that what he’s going through is nothing compared to the pain they’ve shouldered. The issue ended with Kafka choosing to turn his heart into a new core, seemingly powering up as he absorbed it.

What to expect from Kaiju No. 8 chapter 119 (speculative)

Kaiju No. 8 chapter 119 will likely open up with a return to reality, where the first half of the issue should focus on what’s been going on as Kafka has had this flashback experience. Gen Narumi and Hoshina will likely be holding Meireki back, but unable to actually damage it, while Mina tries to awaken Kafka.

However, she’ll likely quickly give up and begin crying after declaring that he must be dead, begging for him to come back to life as she does so. Kafka should return at this moment, his body likely letting out a massive roar or some sort of energy burst. This should shift quickly into Kafka attacking Meireki and greeting Narumi and Hoshina, the issue ending as this three–on-one fight is set up.
