Kashin Koji could be hiding a heart-wrenching truth from Boruto

With the release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 17, the manga saw Team 7 and the Sand Shinobi approach Matsuri and Ryu, hoping to defeat them and take away their Thorn Soul Bulbs. While the plan itself seemed to be working, the protagonist seemed very nervous about the possibility of failure.

Nevertheless, Kashin Koji warned Boruto not to leave their hideout due to the danger posed by the Shinju leader Jura. While on the outside, it seems like the Jiraiya clone only has the protagonist's best interest, there remains a possibility that he's keeping him away to not interrupt a sinister development.

As seen in the manga, Kashin Koji had Shikamaru Nara send Konohamaru Sarutobi, Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki to the Land of the Wind to slay Matsuri and Ryu alongside the Sand Shinobi. Even when the Shinobi confronted the Divine Trees, their plan was to form a friendly relationship with them, only to betray them later.

Given Matsuri's evident feelings for Konohamaru, it seems like the plan would work. However, there's something really awry about Kashin Koji's warning to Boruto. As previously seen in the manga, the Shinobi could defeat Hidari after the protagonist had unleashed his Rasengan Uzuhiko on him. Therefore, one must question how Koji wants the Shinobi to defeat the Divine Trees.

Realistically, if Koji really wanted the Shinobi to defeat the Divine Trees, he should have sent Boruto to join him. Instead, he has asked the protagonist not to leave their hideout under any circumstances. As per him, the moment Boruto would make his presence known to the Divine Trees, Jura would join the fight and kill him.

While such a future is not implausible, there's a chance that Koji is stopping the protagonist from joining the fight due to some other reason. As fans would know, Sarada Uchiha activated her Mangekyo Sharingan for the first time at the end of the previous manga. Given the circumstances, there remains the possibility that Kashin Koji aims at a possible power-up for Sarada at the cost of Konohamaru's life.

As evident from the developments, Sarada and Mitsuki are set to face off against Ryu, while Konohamaru is to face Matsuri. In search circumstances, it's very possible that the Team 7 leader meets his fate at the hands of the Moegi Divine Tree. Such a development could see Sarada reawaken her Mangekyo Sharingan and use it to defeat both Divine Trees.

While such developments could elevate the story to another level, the fact that Koji could be hiding this is definitely devious. It could also be the reason why the Jiraiya clone specifically asked Shikamaru to send these three Shinobi to the Land of the Wind.
