Kishibe may not be the savior Chainsaw Man fans think he is

As fans must remember, the ending of Chainsaw Man part 1 saw Kishibe helping Denji during the fight against Makima. Even at the end of the series, he seemed like Denji's only wellwisher, giving him the responsibility of taking care of the new Control Devil Nayuta.

However, what if Kishibe was never the savior fans have thought him to be? As absurd as it may sound to avid Chainsaw Man manga readers, evidence suggests that Kishibe wasn't as good a person as fans thought him to be. This is especially evident from his conversation with Makima in the manga's first part.

Kishibe's exchange with Makima suggests that he may be after Denji in Chainsaw Man part 2

As fans may remember, Chainsaw Man part 1 saw the Special Divisions get ambushed and wiped away. This development saw all Special Divisions get merged into Division 4 and placed under Makima's leadership. Kishibe instantly realized that Makima may have had a hand in this attack and questioned her about the ambush.

It seemed evident that Makima knew about the ambush. However, Kishibe chose to look the other way. This is because, as a Public Safety Officer, Kishibe wanted the best for humanity. Hence, no matter what inhuman deeds Makima perpetrated, he was prepared to look the other way as long as she was on humanity's side.

This proves that while Kishibe supported Denji at the end of part 1, he was never really against Makima but in favor of Public Safety. Hence, in the manga's second part, he could be responsible for the plan to torture Denji and get him to devour devils. While it may sound absurd, there's some evidence behind it.

As revealed in Part 1, as long as it was for the betterment of society, Kishibe did not mind adhering to inhuman deeds. So, why did he turn against Makima? This is because after Makima killed several members of Public Safety, he may have stopped considering the Control Devil's actions in favor of humanity. Thus, at the time, Kishibe may have chosen to help Denji with a conflicted mind.

If one were to consider such a possibility, it also answers why he hasn't shown up in the manga's second part. As revealed in the manga, Public Safety was trying to get Black Chainsaw Man to devour devils to erase them. However, as revealed in the past, this form only manifested when Denji was in despair. It suggests that Kishibe may have tried to manipulate Denji the same way Makima did in the first part.

Makima used Power and Aki to make Denji feel like he belonged somewhere. After that, she turned these feelings into despair by orchestrating their deaths. This development saw Denji fall into despair and bring out Pochita's true Chainsaw Man form.

Similarly, Kishibe might have given Denji Nayuta's responsibility to have him form a similar bond with someone. This theory especially makes sense if fans question why Kishibe handed over Nayuta to Denji. Realistically, there was no true reason for Kishibe to hand over the next Control Devil to a 17-year-old High School boy. Therefore, it's highly likely that Kishibe might have been trying to manipulate Denji just like Makima did in the first part.
