Champignon Witch anime officially confirmed for production

On Friday, December 13, 2024, the official X account (@champignonwitch) shared a drawn illustration from Higuchi Tachibana to confirm the production of the Champignon Witch anime. Unfortunately, the staff hasn't revealed any major information regarding the anime, like the release date, cast & staff, or the production studio.

More details concerning the series will be disclosed in the future. Notably, the announcement illustration for the Champignon Witch anime features the main heroine, Luna, and her friends. Luna is seen wearing a Christmas-themed mushroom hat to go with the festive season.

Higuchi Tachibana, the original author of the manga, has shared the illustration and a comment on their official X account (@kobutar). The author is elated that their manga is receiving an anime adaptation. Additionally, Tachibana-san has expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported the series.

The official staff also announced that the manga will release its sixth volume on December 20, 2024. Notably, the previous volume was published on July 20, 2023 in Japan, and internationally on May 28, 2024, with English subtitles.

While the staff hasn't unveiled an official synopsis for the anime yet, the series will likely follow the narrative written by Higuchi Tachibana. According to the manga, the fantasy shojo narrative centers on a girl named Luna, who resides in the Black Forest.

Luna is feared by everyone as the Black Witch. It's largely because wherever Luna speaks, treads, or touches, poisonous mushrooms grow. Hence, people begin to refer to her as the Mushroom Witch. However, everything changes, when one day she falls in love with someone.

Since Luna has never experienced the feelings of human warmth and love before, she embarks on an exhilarating journey. Therefore, the Champignon anime will focus on Luna's magical fantasy journey, with a touch of love and adventure.
