FLOWER AND ASURA anime reveals January 2025 release date and more

Wednesday, December 4, 2024 saw the official website for the television FLOWER AND ASURA anime series reveal its Wednesday, January 8, 2025 release date and more. This news was revealed alongside the new, main promotional video for the series which began streaming via the official website, and also revealed additional cast members for the upcoming anime.

The FLOWER AND ASURA anime also revealed a new key visual, featuring protagonist Hana Haruyama front and center along with other central characters in the series. While this latest batch of news did confirm the full Japanese release information for the television anime series, there is no news on international streaming availability as of this article’s writing.


FLOWER AND ASURA anime series premieres on Japanese television in January 2025, no streaming info

The FLOWER AND ASURA anime series will premiere in Japan on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 1:29AM Japanese Standard Time (JST). The series will first air on the NTV channel at this time, and will later run on BS NTV, Chiba TV, TV Saitama, tvk, Sun TV, and KBS Kyoto on January 8. This will be followed by a broadcast on AT-X the following day on Thursday, January 9. No Japanese or international streaming info is currently available as of this article’s writing.

The newly announced cast members include Koji Yusa as Hiromi Kichijoji, the narcissistic AV club advisor, and Yoko Hikasa as Shura Saionji, a former recital champion of NHK’s national high school competition N-Con. They join starring cast members Minori Fujidera as Hana Haruyama, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Mizuku Usurai, Fuka Izumi as An Natsue, Shoya Chiba as Shudai Toga, Seiichiro Yamashita as Matsuyuki Akiyama, Kiyono Yasuno as Ryoko Totonoi, and Taito Ban as Setaro Hakoyama.

Ayumu Uwano is directing the television anime series at Studio Bind, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu in charge of series scripts. Kou Aine is designing the characters, and is also a chief animation director alongside Satoshi Shimada. Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music. The anime’s opening and ending theme songs, which are both previewed in the new trailer, are “Jibun Kakumei” (My Own Revolution) by SHISHAMO, and “Roro” (Resonant) by Sato, respectively.

The FLOWER AND ASURA anime series will serve as the television anime adaptation of author Ayano Takeda and illustrator Musshu’s original manga series of the same name. The seinen series began serialization in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine in June 2021, where it is still ongoing today. The manga has been collected into seven currently available compilation volumes, with an eighth releasing in Japan in January 2025.

The series is set in Tonakishima, a small island with a population of 600, and follows high school girl Hana who lives there. She loves recitals, and holds regular reading sessions for kids on the island, until her power to attract people is noticed by Mizuki, the Broadcasting Club’s president. Mizuki invites her to join the club, which she does and experiences many firsts with her newfound members and friends.
