Gag Manga Biyori Season 5 confirms production and spring 2025 release
On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, REMOW informed Sportskeeda Anime via email correspondence that Gag Manga Biyori Season 5 has been greenlit. As part of this, the anime has revealed its Spring 2025 release window, key visual, staff, cast, and characters.
The previous season of Gag Manga Biyori produced by Studio DEEN was premiered back in 2010. However, after a wait of around 15 years, the anime is now set to return with a fifth season to celebrate the manga’s 25th anniversary. The manga began its serialization in December 1999.
Gag Manga Biyori Season 5 unveils its key visual, staff, cast, and characters
On Wednesday, December 4, REMOW announced that Gag Manga Biyori has been greenlit for a fifth season as "Gag Manga Biyori GO" to celebrate the manga's fifth season. The anime is set to premiere in Spring 2025.
As for the key visual, it shows Taishi Shoutoku and Imoko Onono running in front of what looks like a manga page with each panel filled with different characters like Kumakichi-kun, Usami-chan, Sora Kawai, Bashou Matsuo, and others.
The new season will be produced by Studio DEEN, who produced the third and fourth seasons of the anime. The animation studio recently adapted Yakuza Fiance and Twilight Out of Focus. Akitaro Daichi will reprise his role as a Director in the new anime.

As for the cast and characters, Takeshi Maeda will be voicing Shotoku Taishi, Kawai Sora, and Kumakichi-kun. He has previously voiced Amarao in FLCL: Grunge, Shirou Yusa in Dies Irae, and Shouta Akizuki in The Garden of Words.
Eiji Takemoto will be voicing Onono Imoko. He has previously voiced Kozo Kanamori in Demon Slayer and Renji Yanagi in The Prince of Tennis. Ryou Naito will be voicing Matsuo Basho. He has previously voiced Taiga Okajima in Assassination Classroom and Touta Matsuda in Death Note.
Lastly, Narumi Sato will be voicing Usami-chan. She has previously voiced Daichi in SKET Dance and Yousei-san in Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita.
More information about the anime will be revealed on December 22, 2024, at the Jump Festa Stage. The event will take place between 12:20 and 12:50 and will be hosted by Akitaro Daichi, Takeshi Maeda, Kensho Ono, Tetsuya Kanmori, Kumakichi-kun.
