Gintama spin-off anime reveals October 2025 release window, trailer, and more

The Gintama spin-off anime, titled Class 3Z Ginpachi-sensei, has recently revealed more information in Jump Festa 2025, the most important being the release date of October of the next year. Moreover, as part of the event's Blue Stage, it featured the voice actors Tomokazu Sugita (Sakata Gintoki), Daisuke Sakaguchi (Shimura Shinpachi), and Rie Kugimiya (Kagura), the beloved main trio of the series.

This panel had some of the classic comedy that has defined the series while revealing key visuals of the character from the Gintama spin-off anime and a new trailer to boot. There was also a lot of banter between the three voice actors and some references to other popular series, such as Sakamoto Days.

Jump Festa 2025's Blue Stage featured new information for the Gintama spin-off anime

As mentioned earlier, the Blue Stage of Jump Festa 2025 featured the legendary trio of voice actors Tomokazu Sugita (Sakata Gintoki), Daisuke Sakaguchi (Shimura Shinpachi), and Rie Kugimiya (Kagura) to discuss the Gintama spin-off anime. Dressed in the characters' attires and sitting at school desks, they were direct references to the slice-of-life parody that the franchise is offering this time around.

The most notorious information, beyond some friendly banter between the three experienced voice actors, was the confirmation once more that this anime, titled Class 3Z Ginpachi-sensei, is coming out in October 2025. There were also some new key visuals featuring the likes of Gintoki, Kagura, and Shinpachi with their classic outfits from the original series and the contrast with the new ones at school.

This panel also featured a trailer for this Gintama spin-off anime, featuring Gintoki as a school teacher and most of the cast as his students. The few scenes of the trailer have Gintoki and Shinpachi playing comedic parodies of the cliches that define slice-of-life anime, highlighting the angle this production is going for.


What to expect from this project

This Gintama spin-off anime takes place in an alternate reality where the series' cast are part of a regular high school. Originally a light novel series, Sakata Gintoki becomes the school teacher Ginpachi, and the story plays with many of the cliches of the medium while displaying the comedy that has defined this franchise throughout the years.

It is set to premiere on TV Tokyo with Makoto Moriwaki as the chief director, Mitei Mark II and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu in charge of the series composition. Shinji Takeuchi is in charge of character designs, and Audio Highs will be making the music.
