The promotional video released to announce Uzuamki's streaming on Netflix featured scenes from the anime series. Some of these scenes included an overall visual of Kurouzu-cho and eerie visuals of Shuichi's father and Kurotani Azumi.
The video concluded with the series' most disturbing visual, which was of Shuichi's father fitting him inside a large tub in the form of a spiral. The series is set to start streaming on Netflix on December 20, 2024. Originally scheduled for release in 2020, it was delayed until 2024 due to production issues.
The series was initially supposed to be animated by Studio Drive and Akatsuki, but the former studio's role was later taken over by a new studio, Studio Fugaku. Co-produced by Production I.G. and Adult Swim, the series premiered on the latter platform and was released online through the streaming service Max.
The main voice cast for the Netflix anime includes Kirie Goshima, voiced by Uki Satake (Tsubomi from Mob Psycho 100), Shuichi Saito, voiced by Shinichiro Miki (Nighteye from My Hero Academia), and Toshio Saito, Shuichi's father, voiced by Takeshi Matsuyama (Kal Synder from Death Note).
The staff for the series features Maki Terashima-Furuta (producer of C Danshi) as the producer, Colin Stetson (music composer of Texas Chainsaw Massacre) as the music composer, and Hiroshi Nagahama (executive director of Guilty Crown) as the director.
