Netflix's latest PV suggests Kagurabachi anime could be sooner than fans think

According to a promotional video from Netflix Japan on December 17, 2024, on X, an official announcement for Kagurabachi anime could be around the corner. In line with the company's joint subscription plan with Weekly Shonen Jump, the short clip featured snippets of the already existing Jump anime on the platform.

Interestingly, though, the video contained a panel from Hokazono's battle shonen manga and the Akane Banshi manga, which is also been due an anime adaptation for a long time. It must be noted that Kagurabachi anime has already been confirmed for production under the Cygames Pictures animation studio.

However, neither the staff nor Takeru Hokazono has officially acknowledged the series' anime adaptation. Thus, using Hokazono's manga in the promotional video, Netflix Japan, is interesting, as it suggests the anime's announcement is around the corner.

Netflix Japan's promotional video for the joint subscription plan with Weekly Shonen Jump may have teased Kagurabachi anime

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Netflix Japan (@NetflixJP) uploaded a 32-second short promotional video highlighting the existing anime adaptations from Weekly Shonen Jump on the platform. Notably, the short clip promotes the Joint Subscription Plan of Netflix and Weekly Shonen Jump, which became available on September 17, 2024.

While the clip featured scenes from the hit anime adaptations from Jump, namely One Piece, My Hero Academia, Blue Box, the upcoming Sakamoto Days anime, and Jujutsu Kaisen, it also briefly showed panels from the Kagurabachi and Akane Banshi manga.

It was slightly strange for Netflix Japan to include these two series for a specific reason. Although Kagurabachi anime has been green-lit for production under Cybergames Pictures, the staff hasn't officially given an update. On the other hand, Akane Banshi manga hasn't received an anime adaptation yet.

Therefore, the latest Netflix PV could sign that an official announcement on Kagurabachi anime will arrive soon, and the series could be distributed worldwide through Netflix. Likewise, the video suggests that Akane Banshi may soon be adapted into anime.

Notably, the upcoming Jump Festa 2025 could be the best time to announce these pieces of information. A special stage will be reserved for Jump at the event, where the official staff can announce important news on the magazine and the series in general. While neither Hokazono's series nor Akane Banshi has received a special stage at the event, the Jump's stage could be used to share updates on the anime.

Additional information on Kagurabachi anime

Kagurabachi anime was green-lit for production via a report shared by Toyo Keizai, an online website of a book and economics publishing company. According to the report, CyberAgent and Shochiku won the bidding war and impressed the staff with a promotional video to win the rights to produce an anime based on Hokazono's manga.

CyberAgent's in-house animation studio, Cygames Pictures, is set to produce the battle shonen anime. The animation studio has previously worked in Ume Masume movies and plans to release The Summer Hikaru Died and the Apocalypse Hotel anime in 2025.
