Netflix's One Piece Live Action season 2 allegedly shorter than season 1
Earlier this month, it was unofficially reported by reputable news and info sources on X (formerly Twitter) that Netflix’s One Piece Live Action season 2 will allegedly be shorter than season 1. While no official news on this matter has come out from Netflix or production staff, current claims allege that the second season will have just seven episodes to the first season’s eight.
While this information is still being marketed as a rumor by these reputable news and info sources, the fact that it is being shared by these trustworthy sources is nevertheless significant. If true, this rumor could also speak to what fans can expect from One Piece Live Action season 2, and where it may stop relative to setting up the events of season 3.
Latest One Piece Live Action season 2 rumors all but confirm the Alabasta Arc as a season 3 exclusive
The One Piece Live Action season 2 news in question comes from X user @OP_Netflix_Fan, who proved very reputable throughout the time season 1 was being produced. Likewise, many are taking their words on this latest rumor as all but official confirmation that this is indeed the episode count for season 2.
In turn, fans are trying to make sense of this by analyzing what the production team’s approach could be to the back-to-back-filmed second and third seasons.
Given where season 1 left off, season 2 would have five major arcs to work through in order to set up season 3’s focus on the Alabasta Arc. In order, this would be the Loguetown Arc, the Reverse Mountain Arc, the Whiskey Peak Arc, the Little Garden Arc, and the Drum Island Arc.
When looking at this list and considering the rumors regarding season 2’s episode count of seven total, there’s an apparent likely path forward through season 2’s events.
Of these five story arcs, season 2 will likely spend one episode on each save for the Little Garden and Drum Island Arcs. These are the two longest arcs of the five mentioned, and also merit the extra focus most-so given the characters who’ll appear and need to be developed in each arc.
It’s even possible that some arcs, such as the Loguetown Arc, may get less than a full episode to further accommodate the later larger and more relevant arcs.
In any case, this information on season 2 is still unconfirmed as of this article’s writing, making all of the above purely speculative. Should the actual confirmed episode count be higher, it’s likely that the series will take a different approach to setting up the Alabasta Arc. Fans can expect to hear more news on season 2 in the coming months as Jump Festa 2025 and the new year approach.
