New Hell Teacher anime reveals July 2025 release window

Tuesday, December 17, 2024 saw the new television Hell Teacher anime series’ July 2025 release window on Japanese broadcast television officially revealed during a TV Asahi livestream. The series will air on TV Asahi’s new “IM Animation W” programming block, which starts on Wednesdays at 11:45 pm Japanese Standard Time (JST) in April 2025.

While the new Hell Teacher anime will eventually air in this slot, it won’t be the first series to do so, with that honor going to April 2025’s Your Forma television anime series. Although an official release date for the series isn’t currently available, it seems the series will air every Wednesday at 11:45 pm JST based on the announcement’s phrasing.

New Hell Teacher anime to be second series in TV Asahi’s new Wednesday night anime programming block

Unfortunately, no other significant information regarding the new Hell Teacher anime series was revealed on TV Asahi’s livestream. However, fans can likely expect the official release date information sometime in the coming weeks and months as the 2025 calendar year begins. This will likely come alongside the first full-length promotional video for the series, with the announcement teaser being the only trailer available as of this article’s writing.

The series also put out a casting video, but this didn’t offer a new look at the series; instead, it showed the key visual revealed alongside it before going into a live-action focus. While this is still speculative, it would make sense at this point for both the release date reveal and the first full-length trailer to be the same. The anime has also yet to reveal key staff information, such as its director, further suggesting a trailer with this info will soon come.

As for the cast, minimal announcements have been made there, with only Ryotaro Okiayu announced as voicing protagonist Meisuke Nueno, also known as “Nube.” Okiayu is reprising the role from the previous anime series in the franchise. The reveal of Okiayu’s involvement also outlined an audition for children to become students in the series, even having their faces animated into the series.

The new Hell Teacher anime serves as a readaptation of author Sho Makkura and illustrator Takeshi Okano’s original Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube manga series. The manga ran from August 1993 to May 1999 and was adapted into a 49-episode anime by Toei Animation in 1996. The new anime’s announcement video describes the story:

“The story follows Meisuke Nueno, aka "Nube," a psychic teacher with a demon hand, as he battles evil spirits and monsters to protect his students in this saga that employs elements of Japanese mythology and folklore to tell a fan-pleasing action story."

It further describes it as:

Known for its occult and horror elements on school ghost stories and urban legends, Nube captivated readers across generations with his heroic efforts to save his students from supernatural threats.”

Hell Teacher anime will air on Wednesdays at 11:45 pm JST in April 2025.
