Miyata’s inclusion also marks a rare occurrence in the anime industry, with cast members who are also musical artists typically contributing to the theme songs for the project in question.

In any case, Miyata will join starring cast members Shuichiro Umeda, Akira Sekine, and Yuma Uchida as Makoto Hanaoka, Saki Aoi, and Ryuji Taiga, respectively. The opening and ending theme songs were also performed by Kujira, those being “Wagamama,” or “Selfishness,” and “Area ga Koi Datta no kana feat. nishina,” or “I Wonder If That Was Love feat. nishina,” respectively.

The series serves as a television anime adaptation of mangaka Pom’s original series of the same name. The series first began in December 2019 and ran until December 2021, with a sequel titled Senpai is an Otokonoko: The Encounter beginning in December 2023, also written and illustrated by Pom.
