Solo Leveling anime crowned as the Best Anime Series at The Astra Awards

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, The Astra Awards crowned A-1 Pictures' Solo Leveling anime as the Best Anime Series. The award was collected by Sung Jinwoo's English Voice Actor Aleks Le. This was followed by a special message from the anime's director Shunsuke Nakashige and one of the Aniplex producers, Souta Furuhashi.

Solo Leveling, written by Chugong, is a South Korean web novel that was later given a webtoon adaptation by Dubu. Both web-novel and webtoon were serialized in Kakao's digital comic and fiction platform KakaoPage. The webtoon series later received an anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures, which premiered in Winter 2024.

The Astra Awards names Solo Leveling anime as the Best Anime Series

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, The 8th Astra Film Awards crowned Solo Leveling anime as the Best Anime Series. The other nominees for the award were Blue Eye Samurai, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Ninja Kamui, Pluto, and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

During the event, the award was collected by Solo Leveling protagonist Sung Jinwoo's English voice actor Aleks Le. The voice actor expressed his honor at collecting the award on behalf of Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, and Crunchyroll. In addition, he also thanked the Solo Leveling Committee, Director Shunsuke Nakashige, and creator Chugong.

In addition, Aleks Le also expressed how overwhelmed he was at receiving the award. Fourteen years ago, he couldn't even form an English sentence, but now he was working with talented voice actors and creators from around the globe.

This was followed by a special message from Director Shunsuke Nakashige and one of the Aniplex Producers Souta Furuhashi all the way from Japan. Both expressed their gratitude toward The Astra Awards for picking Solo Leveling as the best anime series.

Solo Leveling is the first Korean webtoon A-1 Pictures and Aniplex have collaborated on. Hence, the director and producer were happy to receive the award as it was a sign that fans loved the series.

They also added that the second season of Solo Leveling anime is currently under production. The staff has been collectively working to make sure that it is more of the series fans loved.

Lastly, they again thanked the fans and all staff members involved in making Solo Leveling anime a success. With that, they wished that fans would support the anime again when it premieres its second season in Winter 2025.
