Zutaboro: Betrothed to My Sister's Ex anime announces July 2025 release and main cast with first PV

On Friday, December 20, 2024, the official website and X account for Zutaboro: Betrothed to My Sister's Ex anime shared the show's first promotional video. According to the video, the anime is set to premiere in July 2025. Additionally, the details regarding the series' main cast and staff have arrived.

Zutaboro: Betrothed to My Sister's Ex anime is an adaptation of the Japanese light novel series by author Tobirano and illustrator Mai Murasaki. The series was initially launched as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in October 2019. A year later in April 2020, Futabasha acquired the rights and published the novels under the M Novels f imprint. Seven volumes have been released thus far.

According to the first promotional video shared by the anime's official staff, Zutaboro: Betrothed to My Sister's Ex anime will be released in July 2025, i.e., in Summer 2025. The trailer shows Marie's tough life, as her parents constantly bully and treat her like a servant.

Even though she's the second daughter of a Baronial family, Marie doesn't get the respect she deserves. However, everything changes when she meets Kyuros, who falls in love with her at first sight. The short video captures their unique chemistry, as Marie begins to look forward to spending more time with Kyuros.

Rena Motomura joined the voice cast as Marie, while Daiki Hamano stars as Kyuros in the anime. Comments from the respective voice actors have arrived on the anime's official site, where they revealed how excited they are to play their roles.

At the same time, a comment from Tobirano, the original author has arrived on the anime's site. Regarding the anime adaptation, Tobirano mentions how it's like a fantasy and a dream-come-true moment for them. The author hopes the audiences will enjoy the show's "magical reality."

Besides the PV and the information regarding the main cast, the official staff has revealed a key visual for the Zutaboro: Betrothed to My Sister's Ex anime. The illustration beautifully captures the moment Marie and Kyuros first met.

Takayuki Kitagawa directs the romance fantasy anime at LandQ studios, with Masakazu Sunagawa as the assistant director. Kenta Ihara is in charge of the series composition and scripts. Akiko Sato is credited as the character designer, while Kujira Yumemi is the music composer.

Based on Tobirano's light novel series, Zutaboro: Betrothed to My Sister's Ex anime follows the story of Marie, a Baron's second daughter, who is treated like a servant throughout her life. With shabby clothes and unmaintained red hair, Marie feels there's no hope.

However, everything changes when Count Granado, the country's richest man, falls in love with Marie at first sight. Even though he's rumored to be a misogynist, his feelings for Marie are genuine. However, due to a misunderstanding, Grnaado proposes to Marie's sister Anastasia.
