One Piece chapter 1133: Straw Hats' Elbaph exploration starts with Robin and Saul's reunion

One Piece chapter 1133 was expected to see the Straw Hats begin exploring Elbaph, with the issue setting up the arc’s next major focus and direction. Officially released earlier this weekend, chapter 1133 instead chose to deal with Nico Robin and Jaguar D. Saul’s reunion immediately, doing so in a satisfying way.

One of the most notable aspects of this execution was a revisiting of Robin’s flashback, to which One Piece chapter 1133 added several new scenes from her perspective and other characters. These not only enhanced her character and reunion with Saul further but also explained a few lingering questions fans had regarding aspects of the Oharan genocide.

One Piece chapter 1133 gives Robin and Saul the perfect reunion

One Piece chapter 1133: Will to live

One Piece chapter 1133 begins with a flashback to 22 years ago when the then-CP9 chief Spandine spoke with reporters about what happened at Ohara. He blames Nico Robin for sinking the civilian evacuee ship rather than Sakazuki/Akainu, who actually was responsible. This also led to her being responsible for the warships that sank that day, which apparently influenced how the World Government spoke of what happened on Ohara that day.

The focus shifted to an older woman saying she saw Robin on an island, as narration describing Robin as a truly evil and irredeemable child was heard. Shots of Robin doing whatever she could to survive as a child also appear here, as well as a mob of faceless characters pursuing her and promising not to hold back. Even civilians are seen terrified of her, wishing death on her and calling her the world’s enemy.

One Piece chapter 1133 then sees a young Robin walking towards the edge of a tall cliff overlooking the sea. However, Robin then thinks of her mother employing her to live, and Saul promises that she’ll find friends one day. This motivates her to keep living, and she’s then seen drawing Ohara into a map book to find out where it should be, but now she is not. However, someone catches what she’s doing, forcing her to run while crying and laughing like Saul.

Focus then returns to the present, where the Great Erik, Hajrudin, and Stetsens’ ship are docking at the Western Village Port. They explain that they’re docking on sea clouds while Robin, Brook, Jewelry Bonney, Franky, Jinbe, and Vegapunk Lilith are all taking in the sights of Elbaph. Usopp and Luffy are also seen celebrating Elbaph, while Robin and the others notice a ship that is using island clouds to sail through the sky.

One Piece chapter 1133 then sees Lilith comment on how Elbaph has the perfect climate to accommodate multiple different types of technology. Luffy’s and Robin’s full group then fully reunite, including the respective Giants with them. Brief introductions are made, with Luffy getting upset at Hajrudin calling his crew Luffy’s subordinates. However, he responds that it’s their choice while laughing.

The Giants then bring up Wano’s events, including Big Mom’s death, which Gerd comments on since they used to be friends. Many other Giants then crowd around them as discussions of a feast begin, which excites Luffy and the others. However, Robin hangs back while calling out for Luffy, prompting a shift in focus to the Straw Hats on the ship with island clouds. It’s revealed Robin wanted to see Saul first, but all the other Straw Hats wanted to come and be there for her.

One Piece chapter 1133: Reunited at last

One Piece chapter 1133 sees Gerd, who is taking them to Saul’s location on the ship, saying Saul wanted to show Robin the library. Luffy then comments that Robin should forget going alone, saying he has to thank Saul since he’s someone who took care of one of his crewmates properly. Robin laughs and asks where he got that idea from, but Luffy says it’s just the right thing to do.

Usopp then comments that Elbaph’s people are warriors and academics, given the library's presence. Gerd explains that Saul is mainly the history teacher at the school, but also teaches them about various books. They all arrive at Warrior Springs, home to Owl Library.

However, the size and presence of sand make it look like an ocean beach, which Gerd says is from broken and eroded tree sections. Likewise, the waterfalls beside the Owl Library spilling down into the like give it waves, even if it still lacks tides.

One Piece chapter 1133 sees Robin nervous about reuniting with Saul as a Giant woman runs at them, saying that Saul has fallen and can’t get up. The Straw Hats are seen reacting to this in their unique, typical ways, but Robin begins laughing and calling Saul silly after seeing him. She tells the others that it’s fine and that she’ll go to him on his own. As she approaches Saul, he gets up and roars at her, greeting her just as he did when they first met 22 years ago.

Saul laughs and asks if he got her, but Robin is unfazed, just like when they first met. He then apologized for greeting her in such a way, saying he was nervous and unsure how to greet her. Saul was revealed to have a pegleg and burn scars all over his body, then picked up Robin and commented on how she looked just like and was as pretty as her mother, Olvia. He then discusses Dr. Vegapunk’s broadcast, praising Ohara’s legacy being spread for the world to hear.

One Piece chapter 1133 sees Robin as Saul if his scars hurt, prompting him to explain that he came to in the ocean. Likewise, he theorizes the ice melted in the fires that burnt Ohara down, sending him into the water and allowing him to survive. He then laments the reputation Robin got in the aftermath, but she interrupts him by saying they shouldn’t focus on dark stuff. She then asks if he’s going to praise her for being alive, prompting him to laugh and cry in response.

He tells her she did a great job staying alive, thanking her for surviving and allowing them to meet once again. Robin then thinks back to when she didn’t want to live anymore, beginning to cry as she says she missed Saul so much. Saul also sobs as she says this, with the other Straw Hats, save for Jinbe, Zoro, and Luffy crying at the reunion. While Jinbe and Zoro’s expressions aren’t seen, Luffy smiles wide, clearly happy for Robin’s reunion with Saul.

One Piece chapter 1133: In summation

Undoubtedly, One Piece chapter 1133 is one of the most emotionally fulfilling and enthralling issues in the entire series. It serves as a heartfelt conclusion to Robin’s backstory, seeing her reunite with the person who saved her life and gave her the strength to go on. The issue is also exciting as it gives a better sense of the scope of Elbaph and sets up the start of the rest of the arc’s main focus in chapter 1134.
