One Piece's latest chapter all but confirm Jaguar D. Saul as the Man Marked by Flames
One Piece's "Man Marked by the Flames" is one of its new mysteries, which has managed to dominate almost every discussion within the fandom. Although the "Man Marked by the Flames," or "Man with the Burn Scar," was first mentioned in One Piece chapter 1056 by Eustass Kid and Killer, he has become a common topic in recent chapters.
There has been much speculation about this individual's actual identity, with most theories pointing to Jaguar D. Saul due to his description as someone with numerous burn scars. The recently released One Piece chapter 1134 delved deeper into this description and might have revealed the actual identity of the mysterious figure.

One Piece: Man Marked by the Flame's identity might've already been revealed
The Man Marked by Flames is one of the most mysterious figures in the story, making his debut towards the end of the Wano arc. He is described as someone covered in burn scars, sailing on a pitch-black ship and using whirlpools to sink any ship that comes near. The last Road Poneglyph, which originally belonged to the Fishman Kingdom, is apparently in the possession of the Man Marked by Flames.
Jaguar D. Saul has long been identified as the actual identity behind the mysterious figure ever since it was revealed that he survived, covered in bandages while trying to save Ohara's remaining knowledge after the Buster Call. The theory has faced challenges due to confusion around the timelines, the actual black ship, and a lack of knowledge about Saul's injuries.
Saul's dialogue in chapter 1133 confirmed that he was indeed severely burned due to the Buster Call, which also managed to melt Aokiji's ice. His current appearance features scars covering him from head to toe, specifically burn scars. All of this, combined with his status as one of Ohara's final survivors and the savior of Ohara's knowledge, suggests that it would make narrative sense for him to possess the last Road Poneglyph.
The Road Poneglyphs are deemed dangerous by the World Government, with Nico Robin being the target of a manhunt solely for her ability to read them. Given that these artifacts are treated as "forbidden items" and their knowledge considered "forbidden knowledge," it is possible that Saul hunted down one of these Poneglyphs to spiritually preserve Ohara while also retaliating against the government.
While many current plot points align thematically with this theory, Saul's lack of any indicated whirlpool powers remains a mystery. Additionally, his prolonged hiding in Elbaf adds another layer of intrigue that needs to be resolved.
Final Thoughts
One Piece chapter 1134 will be released on December 22, 2024, and is expected to reveal more about Jaguar D. Saul. Although nothing has been directly stated to confirm his identity as the Man Marked by the Flames, all may be revealed in chapter 1134, along with details about Saul's current operations in Elbaf.
