Shanks' return in the latest One Piece spoilers isn't what fans think

One Piece chapter 1134 has recently been leaked and there is a cliffhanger that features a character who looks a lot like Shanks arriving to Elbaph. Many fans have speculated that this could be the Yonko working with the Gorosei, but recent information suggests he might be a twin or someone who simply looks like Shanks for another reason.

There has been a long-running theory in the One Piece community that Shanks has a twin brother, thus explaining some inconsistencies in his characterization throughout the story. In that regard, the leaks of chapter 1134 might be the biggest evidence of this theory being proven right thus far and could be one of the most notorious plot twists in the history of the series.

The leaks of One Piece chapter 1134 might reveal that Shanks has a twin brother

It has been revealed that the man who looks like Shanks in the leaks of chapter 1134 is the same one who talked with the Elders of the Gorosei back in chapter 907, even going as far as displaying the same angle in the panel when showing up. This individual is wearing the same dark cloak that he wore when meeting the Gorosei and also doesn't seem to have the Yonko's iconic scar on his eye.

There has been this theory in the community that Shanks has a twin brother who works with the Gorosei, adding to a potential revelation that they were Celestial Dragons as a kid and Gol D. Roger took his future crew member during the events of God Valley. This could explain why he seems to work with the Gorosei and also serve as a pirate across the landscape of the series, with the timing not matching.

Notably, Shanks wouldn't need to wear a black cloak when talking with the Elders of the Gorosei because of their location. The lack of a scar is also a very telling sign, which could reinforce this theory while also paving the way for a lot of ramifications in the story.

More elements of this theory

Another element of this One Piece theory is that the leader of the Holy Knights, Figarland Garling, is Shanks' father, which is something that has been weakened by the fact that the anime adaptation displays this character with gray hair instead of red. However, the God Valley flashback depicts him when he was a lot younger and definitely looks similar to Shanks.

There are some flaws in this theory, though, such as why the World Government hasn't leaked Shanks' status or why the twin brother is hidden. Moreover, the factor of not having a scar could simply be author Eiichiro Oda simply not drawing it from that perspective since the panel doesn't show the Yonko's left eye.

Final thoughts

There is a very good chance that One Piece could be having Shanks arriving to Elbaph, but the recent leaks of chapter 1134 do give some validity to the theory of him having a twin. However, this is mere fan speculation at the moment and fans should take this with a grain of salt.
