The most interesting Jujutsu Kaisen sequel should focus on the Heian era, but not on Sukuna or Kenjaku
A Jujutsu Kaisen sequel manga has been the mainstay topic of discussion ever since the conclusion of the original manga with a total of 271 chapters following Sukuna's defeat at the hands of Yuji Itadori.
Although no part 2 or spin-off was announced after the series' conclusion, numerous unresolved plot points, such as the vengeful spirits and the future of jujutsu following the collapse of Tengen's barriers, provide a strong foundation for a possible continuation of the story.
The Heian Era is one such plot point that remains highly discussed yet minimally explored within the series. While prominent characters like Sukuna, Kenjaku, or members of the Gojo clan are the most popular choices for a Jujutsu Kaisen sequel, lesser-known figures such as Uro, one of the reincarnated sorcerers from the Heian Era, could potentially serve as the ideal focal point for a Jujutsu kaisen sequel centered on this time period.

Uro's character serves as the perfect conduit for a Jujutsu Kaisen sequel
Uro, introduced during the Culling Games arc, served as one of the first direct attempts to explore the Heian Era within the series. Although her character primarily provided a glimpse into the power level of Heian Era sorcerers and offered exposition around Sukuna, Uro herself became tied to many of the story's unresolved mysteries.
The Heian Era undeniably serves as the convergence point for most of the series' mysteries, including Kenjaku's practice of turning sorcerers into cursed objects and Sukuna's reign of terror.
While Sukuna and Kenjaku are the most desirable candidates for exploring a potential Heian Era sequel, Sukuna's overwhelming presence and Kenjaku's secretive and scheming nature make them less suitable as drivers of a possible Jujutsu Kaisen sequel.
Takako Uro, who previously fought Sukuna during the Heian Era and lost, presents a more appealing anchor for a possible sequel. Her backstory, which culminated in her execution due to clan politics and her eventual transformation into a cursed object through Kenjaku's deal, provides an organic way to explore the Heian Era's intricacies.
While the formation of the Gojo, Kamo, and Zenin clans remains a mystery due to their establishment after the Heian Era, this unresolved aspect offers potential for an anthology that could delve into their origins. This would further contribute to the growing demand for a Jujutsu Kaisen sequel, which has skyrocketed since the manga's conclusion.
Final Thoughts
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga concluded with a total of 271 chapters, all of which are currently available to read on Shueisha's MANGA Plus platform. Although the manga has officially ended, the anime is still ongoing, with Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 expected to be released sometime in 2025. Given the series' popularity, it is highly likely to receive additional media and projects, which may be announced alongside the release of season 3.
