The latest Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter showcases the dark side of the Shinobi
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 17, released on December 20, 2024, saw the Hidden Leaf shinobi successfully subjugate the Shinju. While Matsuri was lured away from the battlesight with Konohamaru, Sarada and Mitsuki took Ryu their way. However, this move might have showcased the dark side of the shinobi world that doesn't sit well with Naruto's ideologies.
As advised by Shikamaru, Team 7 had to show the Shinju fake faces and ensure that Konohamaru would trigger Matsuri's emotions. This was so that the Hidden Leaf shinobi could eventually betray the Shinju. These methods contradict the teachings of the Seventh Hokage, who always wanted to fight a fair fight. However, under Shikamaru, things might be going in a different direction.

Exploring the dark side of the shinobi world in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 17
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 17 commenced with the Hidden Leaf shinobi revealing themselves to the Shinju. Team 7 acted as if they didn't know about the Shinju, and this worked wonders because Matsuri and Ryu took the bait. Konohamaru was advised about this plan by Shikamaru before Team 7 left the Hidden Leaf Village.
According to Shikamaru, Team 7 was to trigger every weak point to get the Shinju on their side. Moreover, Shikamaru also wanted Konohamaru to go out of his way to get Matsuri by his side because he knew that the Shinju had the same emotions as Moegi, and this might trigger some emotions of trust.
Fortunately, Matsuri started acting weird around Konohamaru because Moegi had a crush on the Team 7 leader. This led to the Shinju not neglecting the Hidden Leaf shinobi's invitation. While Sarada and Mitsuki took Ryu their way, Matsuri was left behind with Konohamaru.
Given their unconventional tactics, the Hidden Leaf village might emerge victorious. However, these tactics also contradict the teachings of the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. The Hokage taught everyone to fight fairly, regardless of the opponent's ruthlessness. He displayed a similar attitude in his own battles.
However, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has displayed fights that contradict these rules since Naruto is not in the village. Using others' weak points for victory is usually a practice used by an antagonist. Given how the Hidden Leaf shinobi were recently seen using this strategy, this might showcase the dark side of the shinobi world.
Shinobi, who normally do everything in a concealed manner, might sometimes rely on such tactics. However, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has never showcased a shinobi resort to such tactics. So, without the guidance of the Seventh Hokage, the Hidden Leaf Village might transform into something else soon.
Final thoughts
There were a lot of things that didn't make any sense in the recent chapter. As claimed by Ryu, Jura respected the Hidden Leaf shinobi. Was this because of their skill or some other reason?
Moreover, does Shikamaru know about the targets of the Shinju, or was he informed by someone else? While this chapter dropped major lore, it also created some points that might not make sense right now.
