The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7: Detour through the Demon Realm

The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7 aired on November 24, 2024. Picking up on where episode 6 left off, the combined band of heroes finally got a moment to breathe, after the last few episodes of action and travel.

In Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7, grief and desperation collide as the heroes and villains plot their next moves. Arthur has his knights set up on the road to Dalmary, and the heroes get unexpected help from Io.

The road ahead to Dalmary is long and fraught with danger, and the heroes could use any opportunity to get into Camelot. When Io approaches with information on Camelot, it comes at a price: the heroes must traverse the Demon Realm.

Grief over Jade boils over

In Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 6, Jade sacrificed himself to save Isolde from Macduff's lethal strikes. Although Macduff was later captured and killed, it did little to ease the grief. With Teaninch being captured and a moment to breathe, everyone starts trying to mourn Jade's death.

In Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7, the mourning escalates into arguments about blame and how to handle one of their teammates' death properly. Nasiens and Chion nearly come to blows over their differing opinions on sacrifice and information gathering, and it's matched by Isolde having to be consoled as she lets her emotions flow, with Tristan doing the same.

Percival tries to rally everyone, though his Hope Magic clones put a damper on things by saying Jade's soul has already ascended. Souls tend to linger if they die with regrets. This doesn't help Chion's attitude, snapping at Percival again as he did in season 2 episode 5 and 6. Lady Thetis swears to properly bury Jade later, escorting his body in a coffin.

Betrayal and consequences

A few things are apparent in Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7. The glove that Macduff gave Teaninich did as advertised: it increased Chion's strength to the point where a light slap sent Teaninich flying. It also explained how Macduff was able to manhandle everyone so easily in the prior episodes. Chion keeps the glove.

Another important detail is how Arthur's Chaos Knights move through the world. The knights of Camelot all have marks and incantations they can say to get them to teleport back to Camelot. Macduff had one on his arm that Isolde's powers blew off, and Teaninch's was on her back.

The threats from Chion, and to a lesser extent Gawain, are enough to give Teaninch an ultimatum: either she provides them passage into Camelot and Arthur kills her, or she refuses and Chion kills her. Teaninch ultimately tries to portal them into Camelot, simultaneously trying to escape. She is killed by a failsafe spell that causes bugs to emerge from her body violently.

King Arthur has been nothing short of a tyrant since his introduction in Four Knights of the Apocalypse. Guinevere even comments on how cruel it was to have the spell backfire if his knights attempted to leave to save themselves, but Arthur takes it in stride. Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7 reveals he put that failsafe in all his knights.

Per Guinevere's Kalidescope ability, he questions what the future holds next. According to Guin, the future will be challenging as the group moves to Dalmary. Six assassins will be sent, four will die and two will flee. Although noting he's already changed the course of the future and there are consequences, Arthur presses on regardless.

Ironside's younger brother, Mortlach, is sent alongside Ironside's chosen six assassins. They all await on the road to Dalmary. They assume the heroes will be arriving any moment, Moerlach having Brackla use the Magical Telescope to spy on the incoming group. They see Io of the Demon Clan with them and this gives them pause.

In Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7, Io's offer of aid from the prior episode proceeds. Io is taking them through the Demon Realm and she recognizes Percival from long ago. Percival has no memory of her, having lived with his grandfather for 16 years.

As promised, she can get them a path to Camelot through the Demon Realm. The first obstacle is getting down the treacherous path of stairs. Then, as Gawain notes, there's the fact that the Demon Realm is covered in a natural miasma that corrupts all races except demons. Public relations between demons, humans, and others have been terrible for over 3,000 years, which further complicates matters.

The stairs, in Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7, are navigated without much problem, except for Donny having to use his Telekinesis to move their horses, Sylvan and Escanor, down. The miasma problem is covered by Tristan casting Saint's Coat on everyone, which he says should work for six hours and keep them safe.

As for the third problem, Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7 reveals the current demon king to be Zeldris, Meliodas' younger brother. The episode ends with him ordering the group to be captured and brought to him, explicitly stating he's going to be a problem for them going forward.

Final thoughts

Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7 is another transitionary episode like the third episode of season 2 was. The heroes have left Wolnack with one ally down, and a rather difficult time ahead of them, regardless of which path they choose. This is also considered the start of the Demon Realm arc.

The path to the Demon Realm and Zeldris are going to offer plenty of problems for the heroes. Demons and humans don't typically get along, the village Gowther was guarding and Io's friends are the exception rather than the rule. Zeldris also doesn't seem happy, especially after being sealed by the Goddess Clan after losing the Holy War.

Whether Zeldris will be the antagonist of the arc remains to be seen. The heroes are taking a huge risk, but they're caught in a catch-22 and Io is the only friend they can count on. Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 7 also introduces the mystery of Percival's demonic origins, a question that will be hopefully answered in the following episodes.
