What is Karaka in Tower of God? Explained
While the events of Tower of God season 2 and its corresponding source material are important for many reasons, one of the most significant is its setup for the future. A major way in which this is achieved is through the introduction of several new groups and characters, including FUG and several of its members, with one of the most notable being Karaka.
However, many anime-only fans have found themselves asking what Karaka is in Tower of God, as a result of season 2 not giving much information on him. Karaka is a FUG Slayer clad in full-body armor, who calls himself the “God of FUG,” is teased as a Prince of the Red-light District, and is at first a major antagonist before slowly allying with Bam.

Karaka’s role in Tower of God
While the aforementioned briefly answers “what is Karaka in Tower of God,” his actual role in the story provides a more detailed look. Karaka’s introduction first reveals him as a fellow pupil of Jinsung Ha, and as someone part of a group of Slayers and Elders within FUG who opposed Bam/Jue Viole Grace.
He also casts doubt on Jinsung’s plans, but eventually acquiesces, before beginning to make plans of his own.
These plans are later revealed to be the Workshop Battle Arc’s events, specifically as it relates to FUG’s plans to implant Viole’s soul in the Thorn. This is all but confirmed to be a plan that came from Karaka directly.
Jinsung visited Karaka once again after the Workshop Battle to reprimand him, but Karaka’s plans continued. This time, his servant, Pedro, set up a plan to obtain the Thorn from Bam on the Hell Train, as well as revive a former Slayer in White.
Karak finally arrives on the Hell Train during The ‘Name Hunt’ Station Arc, where he immediately finds and begins fighting Yuri Ha Jahad in order to avenge Pedro’s death by her. Karaka then gets involved in the events on the Floor of Death, which reveals that he made a deal with Hell Joe to obtain the final piece of Enryu’s Thorn.
He’s largely uninvolved with the arc’s major events here, getting distracted by running into and escaping from Urek Mazino.
At this point, Karaka returns to Tower of God’s Hell Train, where he’s largely uninvolved in any meaningful way until meeting Wangnan Ja. Here, they discuss each having a ring with Jahad’s symbol on it, with Wangnan trying to get information from Karaka on it.
However, Karaka refuses since Wangnan doesn’t have his ring on him at this point in time, explaining that the one who gave it to him told him to never speak of it unless the other person also had one.
Karaka’s next major activity in the series comes during The Last Station Arc, where he mainly helps Bam to escape the battlefield, waiting for them at the titular train station. Karaka eventually confronts Kallavan after hearing of Jinsung Ha’s alleged death, asserting that Jinsung wasn’t dead since it wasn’t fully confirmed.
Karaka then reunited with Wangnan, telling him he had somewhere he should go if he wanted to get stronger.
This leads into the third overall part of the original Tower of God manhwa series, which begins with Karaka working with Bam to rescue Jinsung Ha. This leads the pair to try and enlist Slayer Baylord Yama’s help in allying with them to fight against Jahad’s Army and rescue Jinsung.
While the plan doesn’t go quite as they intended, Karaka and Bam do eventually enlist Yama to their cause, eventually leading the group to fight Lo Po Bia Yasratcha.
Karaka takes part in Yasratcha’s game with the others, proving to be a valuable ally in their collective efforts to save Jinsung Ha. However, his contributions begin to dry up as the Lo Po Bia family arrives, including Family Head Lo Po Bia Traumerei.
He’s last seen with Bam and the newly rescued Jinsung Ha in part 3, chapter 172, but curiously isn’t seen with Jinsung Ha on Grace Mirchea Luslec’s ship in the next issue.
In summation
The answer to the question of “what is Karaka in Tower of God” lies in his contributions to the story. He’s initially introduced as a member of FUG, and antagonist likewise, but is eventually forced to work with Bam and co due to sharing a common goal.
During this time, he grows to respect and value Bam and his allies like Wangnan, not quite becoming a true friend but certainly not being the enemy he once was.
