Who is Ehwa in Tower of God? Explained

Anime fans have been curious about Ehwa in Tower of God, given that this name never appeared in season 1 or 2 of the series. This name belongs to Yeon Yihwa, the Flame Shinsu user, and both are pronounced the same in Korean. Even though the character is not part of the protagonist's group, she played a big role in the Workshop Battle and Hell Train arc.

Yeon Ehwa is a supporting character in the series and a direct descendant of the Yeon Family. Her name changed from 'Ehwa' to 'Yihwa' in part 2 of the series as a revision of the translation. Even though she is yet to get a spotlight, she is titled by the author as strong as Endorsi Jahad. As a flame user, her powers are centered around her flames and how big they get as the plotline progresses.

As a Regular, Ehwa started climbing the tower at 14. Since her childhood, she received praise for her flames, with some even claiming that she had the potential to become one of the Jahard Princesses. At the start of her journey as a Regular, Ehwa smooth-sailed through the floors with ease.

However, her skills were tested later as she took over 5 years to reach the 20th floor, where she met Wangnan and Viole (Bam). During this test, Ehwa's flames were showcased as uncontrollable as she burned her teammates during the test on the 20th floor.

Ehwa's relationship with Prince was also explored during this time as her family owed money to the latter. Prince never treated Ehwa as one of the descendants of the Yeon Family (one of the 10 Great Families). So, Ehwa was working under a contract with Prince to never disobey his orders.

While she was part of the Team Tangsooyook (formed by the players on the 20th floor), Viole released Ehwa from her contract with Prince. As Team Tangsooyook, everyone trained before entering the Workshop Battle, which was when she trained to control her flames. Fortunately, she managed to get them in control but couldn't do it flawlessly.

After entering the battle, Ehwa played the role of a supporting character as she helped Wangnan and the rest of the team progress. Moreover, after discovering that Viole was about to die, she supported Rak in defeating Team Snake, which was when she showcased her new 'controlled' flames.

After the conclusion of the Workshop Battle, she followed Team Baam into the Hell Express, where she nurtured her powers even more. Even though she wasn't an official part of Team Baam, she is still trying to become a bonafide member of the protagonist's group.

As mentioned, Ehwa's is all about her flames. As a child, her flames were extraordinary. However, as she grew, she realized they were uncontrollable and unusable in a team battle. So, her journey across Tower of God could be considered a quest to perfect her flames and bring out the true flames.

She showed some progression during the Workshop Battle arc when she burned Medina with pinpoint accuracy. Moreover, she awakened her true flames for a brief moment during the Dallar Show when Raguel ruthlessly killed Pompidou.

Her true flames were very different than her usual ones as these flames enveloped her entirely and worked her defensively and offensively. This was the only time Ehwa awakened her true flames.
