Enjouji Jin (more commonly referred to as Jiji) is one of the main characters from Dandadan introduced in episode 11. Even though he looked like a mature person at first glance (given his good physique and handsome facial features), he was a little child from the inside as he couldn't handle someone's serious behavior for a long time.

Moreover, Jiji utilized his handsome looks to the maximum as he immediately started flirting with girls from Momo's class after transferring to school. Given his usual persona that acts like a child in public and a somewhat mature figure when alone with his friends, Kaito Ishikawa was the perfect choice for voicing Enjouji Jin.

Kaito Ishikawa is a male voice actor from Japan's anime industry who has won several awards for his voice-acting skills. In 2014, the Dandadan voice actor won the award for the 'Best Rookie Voice Actor' during the 8th Seiyu Awards, for his role as Harutora Tsuchimikado (Tokyo Ravens).

In 2020, Jiji's voice actor won the award for 'Best Supporting Voice Actor' in two of his voice acting: Kageyama (Haikyuu!) and Naofumi (The Rising of the Shield Hero). Given his award-winning roles, he is known for his calm and steady voice which fits serious characters.

Moreover, he is known for voicing characters with a much more funny personality like Iida from My Hero Academia and Nagi from A Couple of Cuckoos. So, Kaito Ishikawa is a full package and this is what makes him a perfect candidate for voicing Dandadan's Jiji. Some of the voice actor's other well-known voice castings include:

  • Mitsuo Yanagisawa from Golden Time
  • Nine from Terror in Resonance
  • Genos from One Punch Man
  • Wilhelm from Re: Zero
  • Urie from Tokyo Ghoul
  • Sakuta Azusagawa from Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
  • Umi Nakano from Rent-a-Girlfriend
  • Noé Archiviste from The Case Study of Vanitas
  • Junichirou Kubota from Tomo-chan is a Girl
  • Kiyoka Kudou from My Happy Marriage

Final thoughts

Even though the voice actor is more well-known for voicing serious characters, he is still fitting Jiji's playful personality. However, things might change in the future where Jiji might be possessed by an evil spirit and this could be where Kaito Ishikawa's true voice would take over the series.
