Wind Breaker chapter 164: The first meeting of Umemiya and Sugishita gets the spotlight
Wind Breaker chapter 164, titled Ties, commenced from where it left off in the previous chapter. After Sugishita confessed his feelings for the protagonist, everyone left him alone with Umemiya. The Furin leader then started planting seedlings, which he received from a local farmer. Sugishita was interested in what Umemiya was doing and approached him.
Umemiya explained that watching these young plants grow into maturity was one of the best experiences a person could witness. Wind Breaker chapter 164 shifted to Sugishita's past after he offered Umemiya some help. Sugishita had an anti-social personality in elementary school, as he thought everyone was annoying.
Moreover, he never considered socializing with others because Sugishita had his grandparents waiting for him at home. Since childhood, he lived with his grandparents because his parents were divorced and didn't want to have their child with them. So, he would return home to his grandparents, who welcomed him with smiles.
However, everything changed in the sixth year of Sugishita's elementary school when he punched another student for pulling a prank. This made him realize his power and the emotions he held inside while pretending to be anti-social. Following this incident, Wind Breaker chapter 164 saw different people going out of their way to fight Sugishita.
As expected, the character never backed down from a fight and faced gangs alone. Eventually, Sugishita lost interest in life and fought with anyone who called him out. Sugishita got cornered inside an abandoned facility by a gang, and everyone was scared to approach him during one fight in Wind Breaker chapter 164.
As Sugishita contemplated his life choices, Wind Breaker chapter 164 introduced a young student barge his way into the facility. His entry scared everyone as he had the ability to beat the strongest members of any gang with ease. This student was Hajime Umemiya, Furin's future leader, who was a young boy looking for people with similar ideologies.
Later, Umemiya mocked the gang for cornering a single person into a corner. However, everyone stated that there was no way of getting closer to Sugishita. However, Umemiya ignored all their comments and stated that the gang was doing Sugishita wrong. He then dismissed everyone and approached Sugishita.
Even though the gang wanted to vent their anger on Sugishita, they left because Umemiya was with him. Umemiya then approached Sugishita and asked his name. Wind Breaker chapter 164 ended with Sugishita realizing that he was giving every answer to Umemiya without his own will and that after his first meeting with the Furin Leader, his life turned upside down.
