Wind Breaker chapter 165: Sugishita's origins conclude with a focus on his and Umemiya's relationship
Wind Breaker chapter 165, titled Haven, commenced where it left off in the previous chapter as Sugishita's origins continued after Umemiya saved him from a group of delinquents. After this incident, Sugishita joined Umemiya's group, where Tsubaki and the rest of the members welcomed him.
As claimed by Sugishita, he felt at home in the company of Umemiya's group. As Umemiya built this place, Sugishita felt at ease, and due to this, he claimed to stay with the Furin leader for the rest of his life. Sugishita also joined Umemiya's Junior High School and arrived on the first day in his new uniform.
As expected, everyone praised him for his new looks. In chapter 165 of Wind Breaker, Tsubaki also complemented Sugishita's long hair. Tsubaki also commented that if Sugishita was planning on keeping his hair long, he needed to take good care of it. So, Tsubaki gifted him hair oil as a way to commemorate his admission into Junior High School. Sugishita thanked him for the gift.
Chapter 165 of Wind Breaker then saw the others giving Sugishita some gifts. Saku gave him the latest merchandise of his favorite sentai show (a show where people transform into fighting warriors using different equipment). As stated by Saku in Wind Breaker chapter 165, the merchandise was rare.
Takumi then cut Saku and gave Sugishita a painting. Lastly, Umemiya also volunteered to give Sugishita a gift, but his gift was a plain shirt with the text 'Grilled Meat Meal.' As weird as this gift might be, it was the one that made Sugisgita the happiest, as this shirt was the same as the one Umemiya had at home.
Then, Wind Breaker chapter 165 saw Sugishta taking his clothes before everyone as he was desperate to wear the shirt to honor Umemiya's gift. Although he wasn't comfortable in this shirt, he faked his emotions. The others then started talking about another person Umemiya was trying to recruit. This person was Hiiragi (who wasn't a part of Umemiya's group at that time).
Umemiya stated that Hiiragi was crucial to achieving his aims, which were to take over Furin High and get rid of every rebel to revolutionize Makochi (the town where Umemiya and the other main characters lived). As expected, Sugishita immediately claimed to help Umemiya achieve his goal and wanted to join Furin High after Junior High.
Umemiya thanked him for his help, which was where Sugishita's origins concluded. Then, the chapter returned to the present, where Umemiya and Sugoshita were groundskeeping the former's vegetable garden. The Furin leader then brought up the topic of Sakura, asking Sugishita about his feelings for the protagonist.
Umemiya advised Sugishita to stop keeping everything in and do things the right way. Then, Wind Breaker chapter 165, saw Sugishita trying to ask his leader about Sakura, but Umemiya advised him to visit someone who knew Sakura better than him. So, in the last pages, Wind Breaker chapter 165 saw Sugishita kidnapping Nirei and asking for his help while scaring him.
