Indian athlete Juby Jose shines with 3 medals at the Pan American Masters Games

Making the country proud, Kerala sprinter Juby Jose won three medals at the Pan American Masters Games held at George Finney Athletic Stadium in Cleveland, USA. This 42-year-old dentist and mother of two won a silver medal in the women's 100 m dash event in the 40-44 years division by finishing the race in 15.02 seconds.

She fell short of the gold medal by a bare margin as Venezuela's Xiorelis Pinero Breto, who clocked the best time of 14.56 seconds, topped the podium.

Apart from the silver medal, Jose showed her prowess with two bronze medals in the 200m and 400m dash competitions—an enviable array of finishes that demonstrated her all-round strength across different distances.

Her performances at the Games came under the tutelage of her coach Surendran Master, one of the famous physical education teachers and GV Raja awardee.

Juby Jose was the only Indian athlete to have won medals across multiple disciplines at the Pan American Masters Games.

It should be noted that in the Pan American Masters Games, there were participating athletes from more than 70 nationalities representing ages 30 and over.

The competitions took place in archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, disc golf, and pickleball, among other sporting disciplines.

Note that the Pan American Masters Games is one of the renowned continental multi-sporting games for senior citizens. It provided competition in a great diversity of sports and had several varieties. Athletes were allowed to participate in a maximum of three sport events and five disciplines.

Of course, Juby Jose's triumphs at the Games were the demonstration of her hard work and athletic potential, which brought great pride to her home country and, in addition, inspired athletes across age groups.
