National Open Athletics Championships 2024: Gulveer Singh wins gold in men's 5000m; Priyanka Goswami DNF women's 20km Race Walk
Six final events took place on Friday (August 30), the National Open Athletics Championships 2024 opening day.
Haryana's Ravina won the gold medal in the women's 20km race walk with a time of 1:35:52.00. Munita Prajapati from Railways Sports and Vandana from Karnataka finished second and third, respectively, with a time of 1:37:40.00 and 1:39:41.00. Olympian Priyanka Goswami did not finish the women's 20km race walk.
Meanwhile, in the men's 20km race walk, Servin, Amit, and Arshpreet Singh were the top three racers in the event.
Seema (15:47.95s), Sanjivani Jadhav (15:55.69s), and Lili Das (16:25.53s) were the medal winners in the women's 5000m race. In the men's race, Gulveer Singh clocked a timing of 13:54.70s to break the meet record and clinch the gold medal. Sunil Dawar and Lovepreet Singh clinched the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Seema, Nidhi, and Sanya Yadav were the medal winners in the women's discus throw. In the women's triple jump, Sheena V (13.27m), Mallala Anusha (13.17m), and Babisha P (13.13m) were the top three performers.
