Odisha's Animesh Kujur clocks 20.65s in men's 200m; sets new meet record at National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships

Odisha's Animesh Kujur broke the men's 200m meet record of 20.71s at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024. He clocked a time of 20.65s in the medal event to set a new meet record.

The previous meet record of 20.71s was held by Amlan Borgohain, which was set in the previous edition of the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championship in Bhubaneshwar.

The national record for the men's 200m stands at 20.52s and has been held by Amlan Borgohain for the last couple of years. The Olympic qualification mark for the event is set at 20.16s.

Animesh Kujur won gold in men's 200m at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024. Andhra Pradesh's Nalubothu Srinivas and Tamil Nadu's Ragul Kumar G won the silver and bronze medals, with a time of 20.95s and 21.15s, respectively.

Seven of the eight athletes started the men's 200m final race as Odisha's Dondapati Mruty Jayram did not start the race. The event consisted of one player each from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab.

Maharashtra's Jay Shah secured fourth place in the final and was far-fetched from clinching a medal. Kapil from Haryana, Lakshay from Uttar Pradesh, and Lovepreet Singh from Punjab were the next three players in the final standings.
