Tejas Shirse sets new Men's 110m Hurdles meet record at National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2024

Maharashtra's Tejas Shirse set a new meet record in the men's 110m hurdles at the National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2024 in Panchkula, Haryana.

He clocked a time of 13.54 seconds to better the previous meet record of 13.65 seconds, held by Mumbai's Siddhanth Thingalaya. The latter player set the set during the National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2019 in Lucknow.

The Olympic qualification mark for the men's 110m hurdles is set at 13.27s, while the National record is 13.41 seconds. The current national record is held by Tejas Shirse, who got his name in the record books on 22nd May this year.

Tejas missed the Olympic qualification by 27 milliseconds and will have to wait for four more years to make his maiden Olympic appearance.

Tamil Nadu's Manav R and Rajasthan's Madvendra Shekhawat won the silver and bronze medals, respectively, with a timing of 13.85 seconds each. To be precise, Manav completed the race in 13.843 seconds, while Shekhawat took 12.846 seconds to finish the race.

A total of eight athletes competed in the men's 110m hurdles final at the National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2024. Three players from Tamil Nadu, two from Kerala, and one each from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan competed in the final round of the event.
