What's the story?

Usain Bolt has often talked about his dream of playing football for a top tier team. He has expressed his desire to play for his favourite team Manchester United on numerous occasions. Recently, the MLS announced that the David Beckham owned Miami franchise will make its debut in the country's league by 2020.

At the announcement of Beckham's new venture, many sports personalities gave the former Real Madrid star words of encouragement including Bolt who even had an ulterior motive. He said, "On a serious note, though, if you need a striker, I'm the guy. If you need goals, I'm the guy. I got you."

In case you didn't know...

Beckham's team in the MLS will become the 25the side in the tournament as the midfielder's struggles of owning a football team in the USA has finally seen the day of light after four long years.

Meanwhile, Bolt recently trained with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns and is also expected to give a trial at Borussia Dortmund in March, courtesy Puma.

The heart of the matter

During his playing time in the MLS, Beckham had a clause in his contract which made it possible for him to buy a franchise for a discounted amount. Beckham used this option back in 2014. In the grand ceremony where Miami's latest attraction was launched, a number of high profile personalities made their presence felt.

Along with Usain Bolt, the likes of Tom Brady, Serena Williams, Wladimir Klitschko and Neymar also congratulated Beckham for his Miami side.

What's next?

It remains to be whether David Beckham and the other co-owners take Bolt's request seriously but are now expected to have a close watch on the eight-time Olympics gold medalist's trial at Borussia Dortmund.
