Usain Bolt says he will take a call on his career after the 2016 Rio Olympics
After winning the 200m gold on Thursday and completing the double of clinching the 100m and 200m gold at the World Championships for the third time in his career, Usain Bolt has said that he will take call as to whether or not to prolong his career further after the 2016 Rio Olympics next year.
“After Rio, as I said, my sponsors want me to go one more year, but my coach said, ‘Listen to me, if you’re not going to be serious about going to the world championships in London,’ then I shouldn’t do it,” Bot said, as quoted by the Indian Express.
“So it’s all about how I feel after Rio, if I feel I can really put my body through one more season. If I’m going to be focused and I’m going to be determined. That will determine if I compete after Rio. So we’ll see how it goes,” he added.
While Bolt put forth yet another awesome performance in the 200m, the night also saw yet another highlight when he and cameramen were involved in an incident which saw both fall and Bolt somersault as well.
Speaking about the incident, the Jamaican said in a jovial way the he should probably get his legs insured.
“It was pretty scary when it happened but accidents happen. I probably should get my legs insured,” he said.
Prior to his 200m victory, Bolt won an absolutely enthralling 100m race on Sunday, in which he beat Justin Gatlin of United States of America by 0.01 seconds, clinching the gold with a timing of 9.79 seconds as compared to Gatlin’s 9.80 seconds.
The 200m race proved to be a much easier affair for the Jamaican as he won by a margin of 0.19 seconds, with a timing of 19.55 seconds as compared to second-placed Gatlin’s 19.74 seconds.
