Video: Bolt triumphs in the 200m

Jamaica’s Usain Bolt completed yet another crushing sprint double on Saturday (August 17) when he roared to his third successive world 200 metres title in the year’s fastest time of 19.66 seconds.

Following his 100m triumph, day eight at the World Athletics Championships in Russia saw Usain Bolt win the gold medal in the 200m event

Bolt’s fellow-Jamaican Warren Weir took silver in a personal best of 19.79, while Curtis Mitchell clinched bronze for the United States.

In the women’s 100m hurdles Brianna Rollins won gold thanks to a late burst to the line.

She won just ahead of Olympic gold medallist Sally Pearson of Australia and Britain’sTiffany Porter.

The women’s 4x400m relay went to Russia as they held off the United States and Britain to the delight of the home crowd.

There was more joy for Russia in the women’s high jump as Svetlana Shkolina won the gold with jump of 2.03 metres.

Olympic champion Stephen Kiprotich of Uganda won the men’s marathon gold medal.

No Kenyans were in the top three for the first time at the world championships since 2005.

In the women’s 5000m race, Meseret Defar won the gold just as she had done in 2007.

And Finally, Vitezslav Vesely’s first effor in the men’s javelin was good enough to see him take top spot on the podium.
