If I am injury-free, then definitely I will compete at Los Angeles Olympics: PV Sindhu
PV Sindhu recently stated that she was hopeful of taking part in the Los Angeles Olympics. The 29-year-old has gone off the boil in the last two years, having not won a BWF title since the Singapore Open in 2022.
Sindhu could not win a medal in the Paris Olympics after crashing out in the pre-quarters. However, she vowed to make a strong comeback after the disappointing outing in Paris. The ace Indian shuttler mentioned that she plans to stay motivated and injury-free to return for another edition of the Olympics four years later.
“If I am fit, if I am able to do it, if I am injury-free, then definitely yes, I will compete at LA. That is what I can tell you,“ Sindhu told PTI in an interview from Hyderabad. “It does happen at times. I had [an] amazing two Olympics, and in the third one, I could not get a medal."
"But I think I played well. I learn from my mistakes and come back stronger. It is not just over with it. I am looking at one year at a time, and now the next Olympics is again four years down the line. So, the main aim and goal is to stay fit and stay motivated and be injury-free," Sindhu added.
PV Sindhu struggling to find her feet
Sindhu was one of India’s best bets to win a medal at the Paris Olympics. But she fell short of a berth in the quarterfinals after losing to He Bing Jiao.
Interestingly, it was Bing Jiao whom she defeated in the bronze medal match at the Tokyo Olympics. She holds the record for being the first Indian woman to win multiple Olympic medals.
Sindhu returned to play in the Arctic Open where she lost to Canada’s Michelle Li in the first round. She could not advance to the semi-final of the Denmark Open after losing to Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the quarters.
