India secure 49 medals, including 14 golds at the Uganda Para-Badminton International 2024
Indian athletes starred at the Uganda Para-Badminton International 2024, claiming a total of 49 medals. India's impressive medal tally comprised 14 gold, 10 silver, and 25 bronze medals.
Kartik Suhag was one of the standout performers during the event, securing gold in both men's singles SL3 and men's doubles SL4-SL3 alongside his partner Aman Thakur. Meanwhile, Abhijeet Sakhuja also won gold in men's singles SL4 and men's doubles SU5 with Jatin Azad.
Women athlete Neeraj claimed gold in women's singles SL3. She partnered with Janoba Patil to triumph in women's doubles SL3-SU5. Patil also clinched a gold medal in women's singles SU5. In addition, Ruchi Trivedi emerged victorious in the women's singles WH2 category.
She also contributed to gold medals in mixed doubles WH1-WH2 with Poorna Rao and women's doubles WH1-WH2 with Silva. Poorna added another medal, claiming silver in men's doubles WH1-WH2 alongside Munna Khalid. Meanwhile, in the XD-SL3-SU5 category, Amudha Saravanan secured a gold medal.
Indian athletes also won 10 silver medals and 25 bronze medals in various events at the Uganda Para-Badminton International 2024. Vijendra and Surya Kant Yadav excelled, finishing second in men's singles SL3 and SL4. Latika Thakur also won a silver medal in women's singles SU5. She also teamed up with Amudha Saravanan, XD-SL3-SU5 gold medalist, for silver in the women's doubles SL3-SU5 category.
Shabana (WS-WH2), Nitin (MS-SH6), Karan Paneer, and Ibrahim (MD-SU5) are the other athletes who won silver medals at the Uganda Para-Badminton International. India's bronze medalists also made significant contributions at the event, including Amudha, Deep Ranjan, and Harshit Choudhary in various singles categories.
Doubles teams such as Partheban Jagadeesan with Neeraj and Dinesh Rajaiah with Surya Kant Yadav also won the bronze medal.
