Lakshya Sen drops in BWF rankings, Rajawat climbs four places
Big changes have been registered for Indian shuttles in the latest BWF Rankings, with Lakshya Sen having one of the biggest drops. He couldn't participate in the Canada Open due to delayed visa issuance and slipped five places to 19th in the latest rankings. His absence has made a lot of difference because he lost the opportunity to hold onto or gain ranking points.
In contrast, Priyanshu Rajawat moved four places up to 35th after making it to the semifinals at the Canada Open. Indeed, his most high-profile win was that over World No. 4 Anders Antonsen in the quarterfinals. The victory brought the youngster's potential to the notice of all who watched the match.
HS Prannoy remained the highest-ranked Indian men's singles player for the week, staying 13. Both Kidambi Srikanth and Kiran George lost three places each to 37 and 38, respectively.
In the men's doubles BWF rankings, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty held on at the 3rd spot, proving consistent. Krishna Prasad Garaga and Sai Pratheek moved up two places to 40th, and M.R. Arjun-Dhruv Kapila dropped two spots to 46th.
In women's singles, P.V. Sindhu slipped one spot to 13th even as she continued her training in Saarbrucken, Germany, for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Aakarshi Kashyap and Malvika Bansod held on at respective spots of 40 and 42. Anupama Upadhyaya gained two spots to be ranked 44 on the BWF rankings.
The women's doubles combination of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa continued to hold the 19th position, and Teresa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela improved a spot to the 21st. In mixed doubles, Sumeeth B. Reddy and Sikki Reddy went up one position to 32nd. Meanwhile, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath gained one place to climb to 35th in the BWF rankings charts.
