PV Sindhu Next Match: When will the Indian shuttler be in action?

India’s badminton star PV Sindhu is all set to return to the court when she takes part in the Arctic Open 2024, which is scheduled to take place from October 8 to 13 in Vantaa, Finland. Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, confirmed the shuttler’s comeback in the Super 500 event to be held in Finland.

Sindhu is currently present in Hyderabad where she is training under Anup Sridhar after moving out of Bengaluru’s Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy. In an interview with the Indian Express, Sindhu’s father also said that the 29-year-old aims to bring a gold medal for India from the Asian Games in 2026.

Sindhu will also be participating in the Denmark Open from October 15 to 20.

PV Sindhu has been on a break after the Paris Olympics

Sindhu has not played badminton since crashing out of the Paris Olympics 2024. She lost in straight games in the Round of 16 to China’s He Bing Jiao, who retired from international badminton after winning the silver medal in Paris.

Sindhu was one of India’s flagbearers in the opening ceremony of the Paris Games. She holds the record for becoming the first woman from her country to win multiple medals in the history of the quadrennial event.

Sindhu won the silver medal in the Rio Olympics five years ago after which she bagged bronze in Tokyo in 2021.

She began her campaign in Paris with a dominating victory over Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq in the group stage after which she got the better of Estonia’s Kristin Kuuba.

Against Bing Jiao, she had her moments before losing the match 19-21, 14-21. Interestingly, it was the same opponent Sindhu beat to bag bronze in Tokyo three years ago.

Since winning the Singapore Open in 2022 and the gold medal in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Sindhu has not won a title.
