Uber Cup 2024 Points Table: Updated Standings after April 27
Uber Cup made its return at the Chengdu High-tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium in Chengdu, China, on April 27, Saturday. A total of 16 teams are playing, divided into four groups with four teams each.
Let’s shift our focus on which team is standing at which spot in the updated standings after the conclusion of Day 1 games in the Uber Cup 2024.
Group A
In Group A, China bagged a whopping 5-0 win over Singapore to top the standings with one point. On the other hand, India secured a 4-1 win over Canada to make it to the second rank in the tally.
For India, Ashmita Chaliha, Isharani Baruah, and Anmol Kharb bagged important wins in the singles category. Meanwhile, Priya Konjengbam-Shruti Mishra registered a win but Simran-Ritika suffered a defeat.
Group B games weren't scheduled on April 27. The teams in this particular group will start their Uber Cup journey on April 28, Sunday.
Group C
Moving to Group C, Japan topped the standings after bagging a 5-0 win over Uganda. On the other hand, Indonesia continued their good form with a 5-0 win over Hong Kong.
For Japan, Aya Ohori, Nozomi Okuhara, and Tomoka Miyazaki secured comprehensive wins in the singles while Rena-Ayako and Nami-Wakana bagged important wins in the doubles events on Day 1 of the Uber Cup.
Group D
Shifting to Group D, South Korea secured the pole position with a big win over Mexico by 5-0. Meanwhile, Denmark grabbed a 5-0 comprehensive win over the United States.
Sim Yu-jin, Kim Ga-ram, and Kim Min-sun bagged easy wins over the singles opponents while Kim-Kong and Beak-Lee secured crucial wins in the doubles events.
