Video: Indian shuttler Srikanth Kidambi attempts to mimic Roger Federer
Ace Indian badminton star Srikanth Kidambi took to his Instagram handle to post a slow-motion video of him trying to imitate one of tennis' best players, Roger Federer, as he is seen taking a break following the Badminton Asia Championships.
In the recently concluded high-profile tournament, Kadambi won three out of his four games that took India to the quarter-finals of the tournament to follow up his stunning run in 2017, a year in which he won the French Open, Australian Open, Denmark Open as well as the Indonesian Open. Owing to his performances, the 23-year-old shuttler jumped two places to be ranked 3rd in the world in the latest BWF rankings.
In the video, it can be seen that Kidambi seems pretty adept at serving in tennis as well, which is similar in action to smashing in badminton.
Bouncing the ball a couple of times to set himself up for the big serve, Kidambi takes a quick look at his opponent as he lobs the ball up in the air and then crouches to give himself the impetus to jump up and send in a pacy serve - all in one motion that looks very pleasing to the eye.
The video, which Kidambi posted on his Instagram account along with the caption 'Trying to copy the legend Roger Federer' saw a rush of comments from fans, some who complemented his style while others drew a parallelism between his smashes in badminton to the serve.
It is indeed good to see the star in action, enjoying a good game of tennis apart from his strenuous schedule on the badminton court!
