2024 Gold Glove Awards: Alex Bregman & Chris Sale's first, Christian Walker beats Bryce Harper, Matt Chapman's fifth, Steven Kwan’s hat-trick & more
The winners of the 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove were announced on ESPN on Sunday, with multiple winners like Matt Chapman and Steven Kwan adding to their collections. There were 14 first-time winners this year, matching the number from 2022, when Rawlings added an extra category for the best utility player in each league.
We take a look at all the winners of the 2024 Glove Glove award from both the National League and the American League.
2024 Gold Glove Awards in National League
Catcher: Patrick Bailey (San Francisco Giants)
Patrick Bailey claimed his first Gold Glove after leading all catchers in the NL with 20 defensive runs. He also ranked in first place for catcher framing, according to Baseball Savant.
First Baseman: Christian Walker (Arizona Diamondbacks)
Christian Walker racked up his third straight Gold Glove after beating out Bryce Harper to the award. Walker led the NL with 13 outs above average at first base, five more than Harper managed in his first full season at the position.

Second Baseman: Brice Turang (Milwaukee Brewers)
Brice Turang got his maiden Gold Glove to become the first Milwaukee Brewers player to claim it as a second baseman. Turang also had the highest defensive WAR for any position as per Baseball-Reference, with 22 defensive runs saved.
Third Baseman: Matt Chapman (San Francisco Giants)
Matt Chapman claimed the fifth Gold Glove of his career after an excellent season during which he also signed a lucrative extension. He led all third basemen with 17 defensive runs saved and tied the top spot in the NL with 11 outs above average.
"That Glove is Gold," posted the Giants on X to congratulate Chapman.
Shortstop: Ezequiel Tovar (Colorado Rockies)
Ezequiel Tovar won his first Gold Glove after putting up 10 defensive runs saved and 15 outs above average this season. He was also the only shortstop in the NL to post double-digit figures in both categories.
Left Field: Ian Happ (Chicago Cubs)
Ian Happ won his third consecutive Gold Glove on Sunday, becoming the first Chicago Cubs outfielder to do so. Happ led all left fielders in the MLB with eight defensive runs saved and also led the NL with 11 outfield assists.
Center Field: Brenton Doyle (Colorado Rockies)
Brenton Doyle bagged the second Gold Glove of his young career after earning his first as a rookie last year. He shared the lead for outfield assists with 11 this season, in addition to 11 defensive runs saved and 16 outs above average.
Right Field: Sal Frelick (Milwaukee Brewers)
Sal Frelick is one of the best defensive outfielders in the MLB right now and deservedly earned his maiden Gold Glove. He led right fielders in the NL with 16 defensive runs saved and also shared the lead with seven outs above average.
Pitcher: Chris Sale (Atlanta Braves)
Chris Sale won the first Gold Glove Award of his career in an outstanding first season with the Atlanta Braves. The veteran left-hander is the big favorite for the NL Cy Young Award after pitching his was to Triple Crown this year.
"Chris Sale: 2024 Gold Glove Award winner," wrote the Braves on X.
Utility Player: Jared Triolo (Pittsburgh Pirates)
Jared Triolo was all across the diamond for his team this year, playing 61 games at third base, 47 games at second and nine each at first base and shortstop. Triolo ended the season with eight defensive runs saved to earn his first Gold Glove award.
2024 Gold Glove Awards in National League
Catcher: Cal Raleigh (Seattle Mariners)
Cal Raleigh delivered an excellent campaign behind the plate to become the first catcher in Seattle Mariners history to win a Gold Glove. He had 17 defensive runs saved, in addition to leading the AL for catcher framing, as per Baseball Savant.
First Base: Carlos Santana (Minnesota Twins)
Carlos Santana is the oldest position player to win his first Gold Glove, at 38 years of age, as per the Elias Sports Bureau. He led all MLB first basemen with 14 outs above average and also shared the lead with eight defensive runs saved.
Second Baseman: Andrés Giménez (Cleveland Guardians)
Andres Gimenez claimed his third straight Gold Glove to seal his reputation as one of the best infielders in the game. He led all MLB second basemen with 21 outs above average in addition to 20 defensive runs saved during the regular season.
Third Basemen: Alex Bregman (Houston Astros)
Alex Bregman may be on his way out of Houston but will leave with a Gold Glove if he does so. Bregman posted six defensive runs saved at the hot corner this year along with six outs above average.

Shortstop: Bobby Witt Jr. (Kansas City Royals)
Bobby Witt Jr. earned his first Gold Glove after taking the AL batting title to cement his reputation as the best all-round player in the game. He led AL shortstops with 16 outs above average, besides racking up 32 home runs and 109 RBIs.
"Bobby Baseball is bringing home some gold!," the Kansas City Royals posted on X.
Left Field: Steven Kwan (Cleveland Guardians)
Steven Kwan joined Kenny Lofton as the only other Cleveland outfielder to win three straight Gold Gloves after claiming his first as a rookie in 2022. He has 47 defensive runs saved during this time and led the AL with nine outfield assists.
Center Field: Daulton Varsho (Toronto Blue jays)
Daulton Varsho is another one to claim his first Gold Glove after a spectacular display in the outfield for the Toronto Blue Jays. He ended the season with 28 defensive runs saved and the highest defensive WAR as per Baseball-Reference.
Right Field: Wilyer Abreu (Boston Red Sox)
Wilyer Abreu became the first Boston Red Sox rookie to win a Gold Glove since Fred Lynn in 1975. Abreu led all right fielders in the MLB with 17 defensive runs saved, while posting nine outfield assists and nine outs above average.
Pitcher: Seth Lugo (Kansas City Royals)
Seth Lugo bagged his first Gold Glove to become the first Kansas City Royals pitcher to win the award after Bret Saberhagen. Lugo didn't commit an error this year and placed second among MLB pitchers with five defensive runs saved.
Utility Player: Dylan Moore (Seattle Mariners)
Dylan Moore was rewarded for exceptional versatility across the diamond with the first Gold Glove of his career. He played 11 games at first base, 37 at second base, 45 at third base, 49 at shortstop and 22 at left field for the Mariners in 2024.
