24 Major League Baseball players may face suspension over drug abuse

Major League Baseball may face a big setback with as many as 24 players facing possible suspension as early as Friday over drug abuse. MLB is reported to have informed the Players’ Association on Tuesday whose names will appear on the list of suspended players. It is also reported that the teams whose players are on the list may have been notified a little earlier in order to give them enough time to re arrange their squad for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Yahoo!Sports reported that the 24 players along with their union and the MLB may try to work out a way to settle as many cases as possible before an official announcement is made. There is a big possibility that the the list may figure many prominent players including Alex Rodriguez popularly known as A-Rod of New York Yankees and Nelson Cruz of Texas Rangers.

“Look, it’s concerning, I have two daughters at home, and I’m sensitive to that, and above all, I want to be a role model, continue to be a role model — especially to my girls. So all the noise sometimes gets on my nerves, but that’s it. I can’t let it get any further than that. I have a job to do,” said Rodriguez who is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week.
