3 teams who lost their momentum after the All-Start break ft. Phillies and more

MLB celebrated its 94th MidSummer Fall Classic Event at Globe Life Field in mid-July. It was also the time when teams completed almost half their season. Many teams entered the All-Star break with positive momentum and a postseason-worthy record.

However, some of them have since fallen off their perch and starting to lose their grip over the season. Let's have a look at three such teams that have lost their footing and have the worst record since the All-Star break.

#3 Detroit Tigers (6-10)

The Tigers were never a postseason contender at any point this season, and their record since the All-Star break has only worsened. The Tigers are 6-10 (.375) since the break, worse than their season record of 53-60 (.469).

It can be attributed to the fact that they traded some of their star players, like Jack Flaherty, Andrew Chafin and Mark Canha. The Tigers are fourth in the AL Central.

#2 Philadelphia Phillies (4-11)

The Phillies entered the All-Star break as baseball's best team with an overwhelming average over the next best.

They are surprisingly 4-11 since the All-Star break, relatively poor compared to their season record of 66-45, which is the best in the majors. However, if they continue to derail, they may lose the title of baseball's best team to the Dodgers, Yankees or Orioles.

Their offense hasn't been up to par, and more so, their MVP contender, Bryce Harper, has been in a slump, hitting only .156 with 10 hits, four home runs, eight RBIs and six runs in 15 games since the break.

#1 Chicago White Sox (0-16)

The White Sox are still waiting for their first win since the All-Star break. They were the MLB's worst team before the All-Star break, and since then, they have worsened. They have lost 16 straight games, adding to their already disastrous season, where they are 27-87.

Trade deadlines can be attributed as one of the reasons why they have been so poor. They traded away stars like Tanner Banks, Paul DeJong and Eloy Jimenez.

With the second half of the season underway, teams need to start winning and make sure they claim a spot in the postseason.
