5 MLB stars who made moves between Mets and Yankees ft. Juan Soto, Rickey Henderson

It will come as no surprise to many but the New York Yankees and New York Mets have a rich history of crossing one another's paths. This is particularily evident when it comes to player's whose careers took them to both the Bronx and to Queens. Despite being cross-town rivals, this has not stopped players from donning both iconic uniforms.

The New York Yankees have been a baseball team for over 100 years and with the New York Mets' inaugural season coming in 1962, there have been decades of opportunities for players to join the ranks of both teams. From Hall of Famers to true modern day superstars, there have been some notable names who have rocked both uniforms.

Here's a look at 5 notable superstars who made moves between the Yankees and Mets

#1 - Juan Soto

The most recent and potentially the most impactful, Juan Soto made the high-profile switch from the Bronx Bombers to the Mets this offseason. The superstar outfielder signed a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal to make the move to Queens, and will be the focal point of a Mets squad focused on winning a World Series title.

#2 - Rickey Henderson

The greaest base-stealer in MLB history, Rickey Henderson starred for both teams, however, his tenure with the Yankees may be best remembered than his stint with the Mets. The Hall of Famer was unable to win the World Series with either team, however, Henderson enjoyed some individual success with the Bronx Bombers, racking up over 300 stolen bases with the team.

#3 - Robinson Cano

Similar to Rickey Henderson, by the time Robinson Cano made his way to the New York Mets, his best days were behind him. During his stretch with the Yanks, Cano was considered one of the best players in baseball, helping the team win the 2009 World Series.

Cano was a shell of himself by the time he made it to the Mets, however, the trade that brought him to Queens also included Edwin Diaz, so that's a win.

#4 - Curtis Granderson

One of the few players on this list that played for both teams during his prime is outfielder Curtis Granderson. The three-time All-Star starred for both teams and while he may have had a better run with the Yankees, he still managed to rack up 95 home runs during his four seasons with the Mets.

Granderson might not find himself in the Hall of Fame, but he was a solid contributor during his prime.

#5 - Darryl Strawberry

Unlike some of the other names on this list, Darryl Strawberry's best years of his career came with the New York Mets as opposed to the Yanks. One of the best players in team history, Strawberry helped guide the Mets to the World Series in 1986.

Even though he was no longer the superstar he was in his earlier years, Strawberry did contribute to two Yankee World Series titles. He will forever be remembered as a Met, but he did help their rival win twice.
